Balance is the key to happiness in life. Live for the now and the later. It doesn't have to be either or.

I think you should live for the now and think about the later. Base some of your decisions on how it will affect you in the future, but if you always live for the later, you might not be able to enjoy now. And you never know what could happen later. Something drastic could happen in your life that you have no control over, and you just spend your whole life living for something that will not be after all.

In general the concept is valid as there may not be a later...
On the other hand, there may be a later and therefore you should do some preparing for it now... Retirement for example.

You have to live for both. Be sensible. Live like there's no tomorrow but then you also need to realize that one day, later will be here. It's all a juggling act.
