I didn't think they docked tails on this breed.

They are not a docked bred but if you obtained an adult it could have have it's tail amputated after an injury. You would get more results by spelling the breed correctly;- http://www.akc.org/breeds/beauceron/index.cfm

If your dog is from a shelter it may have been a breed guess & you probably have a black & tan rottie or Dobe cross.

"Neck, Topline and Body
Neck: The neck is muscular, of good length, united harmoniously with the shoulders, enabling the head to be carried proudly while standing in an alert posture.
Topline: The back is straight and strong. The withers are well defined. The loin is broad, short and muscular. The croup is well muscled and slightly sloped in the direction of the attachment of the tail.
Body: The length of the body from the point of the shoulder to the point of the buttock is slightly more than the height of the dog at the withers.
Chest: The chest is wide, deep, long, and descends to the point of the elbow. The girth of the chest is greater than the height at the withers by more than 20%.
Ribs: The ribcage extends well back with long, flexible, and moderately curved ribs. The abdomen is moderately drawn up but still presents good volume.
Tail: The tail is strong at the base, carried down, descending at least to the point of the hock, forming into a slight J without deviating to the right or to the left. In action, the tail can be carried higher, becoming an extension of the topline. Disqualification: Docked tail, or tail carried over the back."

This is from the standard of the Beauceron, as you see a docked tail is a Disqualification. This is the link to the standard on the AKC site. http://www.akc.org/breeds/beauceron/index.cfm
The Beauceron is a breed where the AKC is allowing it to be in the Foundation Stock.
"Foundation Stock Service® Breeds
Alphabetical Listing

Each of the following breeds has been accepted for recording in the AKC Foundation Stock Service®. The AKC provides this service to allow these purebred breeds to continue to develop while providing them with the security of a reliable and reputable avenue to maintain their records. FSS® breeds are not eligible for AKC registration. Several of the FSS breeds are approved to compete in AKC Companion Events. To review the complete list of breeds approved to compete in companion events, click here.

Contact information is available for a majority of the Foundation Stock Service® breeds. The AKC does not recommend one club over another. None of the clubs are affiliated with the AKC at this time (except for the coonhound national breed clubs)."
Beauceron's are listed as a Miscellaneous class breed and they can compete in AKC companion events. AKC companion events are obedience, tracking, agility and Rally. Now in order for a foundation breed to compete in companion events, there needs to be : 1. a minimum of 150 dogs with three generation pedigrees recorded in the FSS®
2. a national breed club with members in at least 20 states
3. a breed standard

I love watching a Beauceron work! They can be very powerful dogs when it comes to Schutzhund and French Ring!

Is this the kind of dog we are talking about
http://www.cyberpet.com/dogs/beaucerduchateau.html

Looks like a mix of doberman pincher and German shepherd to me...Maybe great Dane even?
Well on the link below they have tails but the ears done...I personally think it is a give or take situation. Now that the tail is docked nothing more you can do about it...If this is not what you wanted you could have said something before it was done?

This is a new breed to me. Never herd of them before now lol!

I don't think docking the tail or ears of a Beauceron is common practice, but seeing as they were originally bred to be guard dogs it seems somewhat logical.
