for the same reason we don't eliminate crime and for the same reason we will never win the war on drugs. It's impossible

Because if we did the media would have very little to print , the telivisions would have very little news or shows,and the economy would not profit off of a war and history would no longer repeat itself.
If we elimated war it would also mean that all other countries would have to elimate war also
if we did. Then thier would be peace for a thousand years throughout the land.

All we can do is eliminate war in and by our own country, and that would be a stupid move on our part since every other country out there is still going to participate in their own defense and interests.

That would be easy all you have do is not fight... and when the other guy comes to take your rights you just say OK, the only downside is that you will be living in slavery. Many people think the opposite of war is peace, it is really apathy when you will not stand up for yourself or anything it is almost inevitable you will be attacked.

where do you think the whole idea of the UN came from? we've been trying to eliminate war for centuries! all it takes tho is ONE despot willing to wage war to bring the peace prospects to a stop!

Just because you do doesn't mean other people will. However, governments could set a good example. Drastically reducing nuclear weapons stockpiles, getting rid of all chemical and biological weapons, as well as weapons that contain depleted uranium and phosphorus. These are all severely frowned on by the international community anyway.
