I work with this Latin guy at a Grill/Tavern. He is very sweet and seems really genuine and he doesn't speak any English, but I speak Spanish. He has held my hand before (before I found out he COULD be married), calls me "sexy" and "bonita" and asks me why I don't have a boyfriend, "porque tu eres muy bonita." The other day I misunderstood something he said and I took it the wrong way, he told me how sorry he was and that he was sad when I didn't talk to him. He said that I was his best "amiga" and that he wanted to be friends "siempre" or always. I have to admit he is very charming but I am a little bit leary because I have heard that sometimes Latin men can be very charming to American women and then be decieving because of the language barrier. I know that all men can be this way, but should I be concerned? I just want to be friends because I have heard he could have a wife back home and I only want a platonic relationship anyways..how should I handle this?

I have worked with latin men as well as just ending a relationship with one. They can be very charming. They can be very sincere. They can also be pathological liars. My ex lied for years and based on what I went through with him and the latin men I had as friends here are some ways around the siutation.
1) Tell him that when he calls you certain things it makes you uncomfortable (amiga can be thought of as many different ways)
2) Try to avoid being alone with him.
3) Ask about his family. If he doesn't mention a wife then specifically ask about one. Remember though, people lie and what could be a sister could also be a wife.
4) If he becomes persistant tell him flat out that you are not interested in anything but a friendship and if he doesn't leave you alone after that then I would report it to a boss or supervisor.

I think I answered this one before when you asked it, but if you have this many doubts about him, there must be something to it. Either you trust him or you don't, and you're going to have to ask yourself that and be honest to yourself when answering. If you can't unequivocally say 'Yes, I trust him', then move on. You can be polite about it; there's no need to be rude (unless that's what it takes to get the point across).
You seem to WANT to like him, but have severe doubts about his character and are looking for affirmation from us to reassure you. I don't know him; only you have met him, but if he's causing you this much consternation now, what do you have to look forward to in a relationship with him?

You should be very concerend. An illegal alien like this one only wants one thing. SEX! Illegals are very different from legal immigrANTS as in they are uncivilized folks. To him if he has sex with a white woman, it's like a badge of honor for his kind. The illegal is not something you can trust, it is rotten, greedy, lazy, and just plain uncivilized!!

Just ask him if he has a wife and if he does than just tell him that u want to be his friend and nothing more.
