We are going to get two puppies soon and thought of getting one Golden Retriever and the other one a different type of medium sized dog. What breeds do you suggest? Thanx

Go to the SPCA and rescue a puppy. They have the advantage of being mostly mixed breeds and are therefore less likely to have genetic problems that all purebreds are prone too.

I have adopted one from the SPCA, a neat sharpei/shepherd cross and he had been a source of great pleasure, love and affection for my family. His name is Corwin, but everyone calls him ScoobyDoo because he's dumb and looks like Scooby.

Usually the costs of neutering are included in the adoption fee as well which is another advantage.

I hope whatever you choose brings you years of love and affection.

I think all dog do well in pairs. Usually a male/female combo. Boxers are great and crazy enough to play with wild Goldens! If you want something a little smaller but still tough and playful, try a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. (See my picture & yahoo 360) They are the most interesting little breed ever!
The link below will help you find all sorts of breeds & breeders, and information!
Best wishes!

Labrador/german shepherd

I personally own an Akita but these dogs grow big. A member of my family owns a Labradord cross German Shepherd and believe me it is a great dog and wonderful guardian. You could not go wrong with this breed of dog.

whatever you decide good luck.

Siberian Husky. The females are medium size (40-50 lbs) and are very friendly and affectionate. Great dogs if you have a yard they can run in.

I recommend an Australian shepherd. I have one and he is the best. They are GREAT with children, smart and loyal dogs. If you have children, I would recommend getting a male and having him fixed at 6mths. If you get him fixed early enough he will not hike. In addition, a male dog does not show as much food aggression as a female. Good luck!!

I suggest you dont get them at the same time. It will be incredibly ard to train two puppies at once.

That being said, I suggest you browse www.dogbreedinfo.com and see what dogs suit you, and get along with other dogs as well.

You might try a beagle, cocker spaniel, or other medium sized dog like that.

A Shiba Inu, a breed originating in ancient Japan. A German Shepherd Dog, from Germany. Or a Dalmatian, a Croatian breed.

I like Better a Shiba Inu. It's Cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
