Hypocritical christians isn't the only reason I became an athiest. To me, God seems like a fairytale that parents tell their children to comfort them when they have a nightmare. God is just an idea made up to bring people comfort. People need God to feet that they are important in some way. They need God so that they feel like there life actually has meaning to it, because a life without meaning isn't really worth living. When you think about it, compared to the size of the whole universe, human existence doesn't really matter. With how big the universe is, it doesn't matter if humans existed or not, it wouldn't make a difference. It doesn't matter how important a person is on the Earth that we live on. So, somebody came up with the idea of God to trick themselves into thinking that there life really does have meaning, even though the existence of the whole human race is pointless. God is just a lie designed to give humans a false sense of comfort.

I am a highly intelligent person, very analytical. I was a die-hard atheist for over 10 years, starting when I was a teenager. But today I believe very differently, and deeply believe in God. I survived just fine for 10 years without a belief in God, so I am not a person who "needs" to believe to get thru life. I believe in God now for one reason: because it makes sense. My study of philosophy is what drew me to God; "the Vedas" are ancient Hindu texts, the oldest writings in existence, full of the most profound knowledge. My belief was solidified when I met some incredible spiritual people from India, who have the power of "siddha." Siddha would be what we Americans would consider a "miracle." If you met these people, you might start to reconsider your ideas also... I have experienced some pretty crazy s***, first-hand!!! I met a man who could levitate a pitcher of water through the power of thought alone!!! He also freaked me out by reading my every thought in detail, as my thoughts occured. (He is a healer who cures people of all manner of disease.) How do you account for these abilities, if there is no God???? Also, science is very close to proving the existence of reincarnation. If that doesn't call for a paradigm shift, I don't know what will..

the reason your an atheist is because you refuse to think you live a bad or sinful life, so you partly blame Christians, that's stupid.

Accepting Christ is not an intellectual problem it is a moral problem.

I bet if you went to a party where there were partiers who were hypocrital, I bet you would keep going back. that's stupid.

and the fact that God made everyone, even you makes your life very important, and weather you believe it or not you and I will both stand before God and be judged for our lives.

But I do offer an apology for all the hypocritical Christians who have offened you, i may have been one and if I did or I do, then I apologize.

Jaime

some people are just with out belief. i am christian and i understand that there are those who have no beliefs. but i have to say if it didn't matter if humans existed or not then what would be the point of us being here? obviously there is a more divine purpose. i'm not saying this because of my religion or that i want to attempt to make you believe or change your beliefs. i just wanted to point that out. i see God working in my life that's why i believe. not because i was brought up to believe. trust me i had my times where i was doubtful. but please don't state God is just a lie as fact because that is your personal opinion. not fact. i hope you didn't take this as me trying to change your beliefs. i'm just responding to your statement. i do agree that a lot of christians are hypocritical. jerry falwell is the biggest one of all and he unfortunately is the one that seems to represent us. also don't take this as me judging you. i don't judge that's not my job. i just wish everyone on here (christians included) would stop attacking each other because of their beliefs. what you believe is up to you and it's not my job (or anyone elses for that matter) to ridicule you or put you down for it. i hope this helps you have at least some peace with the way people ridicule and i hope it helps other to realize that they shouldn't ridicule others. i also hope some poeple will see this and change their minds about personal attacks.

You don't believe in God because you don't want to. It's easy to blame Christians. Many of the "hypocrites" you speak of are probably just people claiming to be Christians but are not. Jesus changes lives. Have alittle faith in Him and seek Him out and you'll find He is very much alive and willing to forgive anyone who will come to Him. God bless.

I read this before in my own Imagination, reason why isn't at all for my self <<>> think?, that someone specially, a religious atheist, can think in this way, about God and it-self. It seams to me that this is the same philosophy, Satan and the forces of evil were to keep repeating on me, of course trying to make me bealieved in something?, such attempt will fail, and that is why I made (this made believd story), Not to allowe my self to preach to another made belief's. Although Satan and God are two very different entities?. To whom may concern. The Words I enclose between << and>> is to show how atheist work with Words to capture our self, while we try to comprihend or understand why he (The Atheisth in this case), goes to the exreme to infriorise his-self to prouve his self, to his own evil. The Word to search for is Feet, which should have been fell. or there off. I made this aclaration simply because atheisth, search and look for wickness, to atack our self's or others, whith what we say to then, which a show we aren't interesting in knowing what they think they know, about not knowing any better, which is what they will continue trying to pursue to achieved from other, giving with this their self more time, before Satan can come to finish his Job, that although they try and they will continue trying, but thsy will not be able to finish their self.<<<>> FOR SATAN, I reply?

There's a lot of different Christian Oranizations out there and only one of them is right.

Matthew 7:21-22
21 “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ 23 And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness.

The Devil uses hypicritical Christians to put people off looking for the truth. Have a free Bible study with the Jehovah's Witnesses, and you'll find the truth I promise.

I am 69 years old and my belief in God and Christ still comfort me.
He has given me His Spirit to be my comforter and after 69 years it has not grown old. He still comforts me.
His spirit also leads me to do the right things.
Before I knew Him, I never did the right things, whatever things I did worked out to harm me. I needed a rudder, and He has been a good rudder.

You don't believe in God because you are idle in spirit. You want everything to be answered for you instead of finding the answer yourself. God is real whether you believe Him or not and He doesn't have to prove Himself to you because God doesn't need you, but you need God!

I accept you don't believe in God. I don't agree with you. I do believe in God and I don't think He was made up to comfort us. I can respect that you disagree with me. Do you respect my right to believe as I do.(without ridiculing my beliefs because they aren't yours?)

I agree. People are scared of death, and they want to think that some almighty being is taking care of them. You'd think by now more people would have stopped believing, but whatever floats their boat.
