The only thing I would say is that in looking at the answers that atheists give, they seem to be particularly intolerant towards Christianity, but are usually willing to defend most other religions, if someone should post a question they disprove of; and I've always wondered why; since you would figure they would be equally against any religion....

No, it's a case of your seeing the things in others that you don't like about yourself. People from all sides do the proselytizing, preaching, and arrogance thing. You may want to stop the generalization to ensure that you try to avoid the same dynamics you see only in others.

Mostly atheists are reacting against having religion shoved down their throats by people they don't know or respect (how many times have you had mormons on your doorstep). What we ALL need to understand is that religion, atheism, are valid choices for different people and accept, while not agreeing with, them.

"Atheist" does not equal "Anti-Theist".
I happen to be both, but that's not true for eveyone.
Atheists lack the belief in god. Period.
Anti-Theists beleive that religion is hurting the human race and would like to see it removed - not authoritatively, but by people using their brains and rejecting supersition and myth.
As you can see, the two definitions are clearly not the same.
---
How does your description of atheists differ than that of theists?

Probably not. They are like a lot of people even in our religion who just want to be right. They do not understand that though they are entitled to their opinion they really have no right to generalize and demand I change. It is like a reverse crusade and both are wrong.

Yes, they are as vehement of their beliefs as the proselytizing Christian and muzzie whacks.
The "i'm right and your wrong" crap breaks society into warring fragments.

Your still not getting it. How hard is it to understand this?
Keep your religion to yourself.
I'll make you a deal...
Stop trying to ban gay marriage
Stop trying to ban abortion
Stop trying to force prayer in school
Stop trying to get Intelligent Design taught in schools
Stop trying to ban books you don't like (like Harry Potter)
Stop having a fit when other religions are recognized as being ok in the world
Stop knocking on my door to peddle your bible
Stop picketing stores and harassing their customers because you don't like what they sell until the store has lost so many customers they have to close
And basically stop trying to make everyone else do what you think is right.
When you do that, Atheists will shut their mouths.
It has NOTHING to do with anger toward you for having a religion and everything to do with anger toward you for trying to force your religion on others by bringing it through secular law.

*sigh* Every single thing you just said can also be applied to religious adherants.
Belief and non-belief alone, like everything else, does not define a person. Individual personalities have to be taken into account.
