I know what you are getting at - you don't want your insurance to pay if you don't feel they should (i.e. the taxi should pay) but that is not relevant to the hospital or to you at the moment. IF your insurance pays whent he taxi should have your insurance company uses its inhouse lawyers to be "indemnified" by the taxi driver. They get their money back trust me - also having your insurance pay does not preclude you from suing the taxi cab - you are not letting them "off the hook" by being honest with the ER doctor. The TRUTH always sets you free bro - you are in the clear here.

If you have insurance, tell them so. They'll charge the insurance company instead of you. If you tell them you don't, they'll bill you.

If you don't have insurance, tell them so. If you tell them you have insurance when you don't, it's fraud. If the cost is more than $400 (which it will be) it's a felony... and you'll still be responsible for the bill.

Don't worry, no ER is going to turn you away if you need help.

You tell them NO! They can not reject you in an ER room for no insurance..You might get a big as bill but they will work with you on payments.

Tell the truth. Saying you have insurance when you don't is fraud. And if you do have it, why lie?
