That if a seagull eats bicarbonate of soda it will explode?

I heard that, years ago. You are supposed to get some bread and put a load of bicarb in it so the seagull doesn't know it's there.
Pretty unpleasant idea, obviously, but interesting to wonder if it would work.
I don't think it would explode, but it might be pretty unwell, or start foaming at the beak or something!

Apperntly it wont exactly "EXPLODE" But was it says is ment to happen is it causes the seagulls stomach to swell to an excessive amount that it bursts inside them causing internal bleeding and eventally death. Ment to be very slow and painful for the bird.
Dont actually know HOW true this is, but i guess it makes sence.

It is true that seagulls can pass gas, but they cannot burp. The air gets traps in their diaphram and can cause them serious pain.
Please protect our animals and do nothing to harm them. They are an important part of our ecosystem.

It depends how much it ate. A small amount would give it wind. A large dose would cause it serious injury and would very likely kill it. To make it explode, you'd proabably have to force feed it a large amount fairly quickly.
This would happen with anything that ate it, not just seagulls.

No. Its a myth! Contrary to what many think birds do pass gas.( If they did not,then it may be a problem) In the intestinal tract there is bacteria that has the job of breaking down food nutrients. This bacteria is actually what causes the gas in all animals including us humans!

I have heard this before, it sounds suspiciously like an urban myth to me. Take it with a pinch of bicarbonate of soda. ;)

it would make it ill which in my books is anmial abuse and you should be shot. what have seagulls done to hurt you what was that nothing did i hear you say .

Yep and you will get a huge fine for it in our state, we do not put up with abuse...
