Visit www.lds.org for correct facts. Typically, on here you'll just get a bunch of ignorant people telling you things that aren't true. I am a member of the LDS church and am a convert. We are a christian faith. We believe in God and his son, Jesus Christ. We read the bible, but we also read the Book of Mormon, which is another testiment of Jesus Christ. After Christ's resurection, he visited those he loved in the old country. Then he visited and administered amongst his other sheep here in Ancient America. The Book of Mormon is a record of his visit. After Christ's crucifiction, evil men killed the Apostles. God withdrew His gospel from the earth until the time was right to bring it back again. That is where Joseph Smith comes in - I'm sure you've probably heard of him. He was just a young boy of 14 wondering which church to join when he prayed. God the Father and his son, Jesus Christ appeared to him. They told him that he should join none of them for they only have pieces of the truth. They told him where to find the plates which contained the records of Christ's visit thousands of years before the 1840s. That was translated by the power of the Holy Ghost into the Book of Mormon and Joseph became the church's first prophet in modern days.
On www.lds.org you can click on basic beliefs. The best way to learn more though is to read the Book of Mormon. You can read along with the Bible by following the footnotes at the bottom of each page of the Book of Mormon. Then speak with missionaries again. They are wonderful young men who take 2 years out of their young lives to do the Lord's work and spread the word of the gosepl. I hope this has helped some. The LDS church is wonderful and has changed my life in so many positive ways. :)
Good luck :)

The Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints, or Mormons, was founded in the 19th century by Joseph Smith. He claimed a revelation given by God wherein he was shown a new testament which purported to be the doings of Christ AFTER He was risen and ascended from Judea. Apparently, according to this book, He then went to the New World and gathered to Himself those Native Americans who were the descendants of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel (a really tough sell since Native Americans are descended from the Asian peoples, Mongoloids, and the Jews are of course Caucasian Semites, a whole 'nother bunch altogether). The book also was supposed to contain a complete set of working plans for a new church. Joseph Smith was eventually murdered for his faith.
Brigham Young took over leadership and led the faithful out of the United States and into the western territories, to modern-day Utah, in fact, where they set up shop.
For a time, until the US Government put its oar in the water, polygamy was commanded for the faithful. When it became impossible to be both a polygamist AND become a state, they dropped that rule like a hot potato. It resulted in a split among the faithful. To this day there are many Mormons who still practice polygamy, though I think even Brigham Young would be appalled at their methods.
It is an article of their faith, (one of the few they haven't changed) that all young men MUST do two years service as missionaries before entering into the finality of Mormon adulthood. Most do this between the ages of 18-25.
There's a lot more. If you want a pro-Mormon slant, try finding one of their churches. They always welcome visitors and are quite forthcoming about the tenets and reasons for their faith, (except for the secret only-for-the-faithful parts). Mostly they're nice people. Just like everyone else.

Those ones specifically? Sorry.
That church? I can help you with that.
If you want more information about Mormonism, have a look at Berean Christian Ministries bcmmin.org or Mormon Research Ministries mrm.org Both groups have done extensive research and have published much of it on the web.
The main part is that they believe that Jesus came to North America and taught many things that are not in the Bible.
The Bible says there is only 1 God. Mormons say that there are more.
The Bible lays out a clear consistent path for salvation. The Mormons have multiple books and they present an indirect path to salvation where 1 path is stated in one book and it is later contradicted in the same or next book. Suffice to say that it is confusing the path to salvation.

Try talking to Mormons about Mormons...would you trust Nazi's on information about Jew's? i hope not...
We are just people trying to live the gospel. And to clarify a few things: We don't believe every man will have his own planet or whatever...one must be eternally married in the temple to inherit glory in the Celestial Kingdom, a man cannot become a god without his spouse nor a woman a goddess without her husband...
Just don't listen to all the slander out there - there is a TON. Try talking to the missionaries again, you can even tell them you are not interested in becoming a member (if you aren't) and they will still try to answer any questions you have. I would also be willing to truthfully answer any questions you have...
Good luck

A Mormon missionary is a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS church), more commonly known as the Mormon Church. The LDS church is one of the most active modern practitioners of missionary work, with around 56,000 full time missionaries worldwide [1]. Most Mormon missionaries are single young men and women in their early twenties, who are assigned to a mission usually far from home. They do not receive a salary, as they are volunteers.

I'd have to agree with Pinkadot. If you want to learn about a religion talk to someone who believes and has faith in that religion. More likely then not they will be, for obvious reasons, more educated than the average person about the religion. This is if you want to find out truly what they believe.
LDS missionaries are young men and women who volunteer, save and spend their own money and time to educate those willing to listen about the LDS religion. More times than not if you run into them or they knock on your door and you tell them your not interested they will wish you well and be on their way. However no one is perfect and we are all people who make our own choices regardless of which religion we are. You may run across missionaries who might try to continue talking to you after you've told them your not interested. That doesn't mean however that all missionaries are pushy or that the LDS religion is horrible. Just means that's how that one person is.
Anyway!! A great website to check out if you really want to educate yourself on the LDS religion is www.lds.org

Mormons believe that Jesus came to North America after the resurrection. They believe that when they (men only) die they become like Jesus. They become gods of their own planets and have a world to rule. They once believed that men could have as many wives as they wanted, but they backed off that when the government got onto them. The used to teach that Black folks were the mark of Cain, but they changed that too. They once thought that Native Americans were the lost tribes of Israel but that has sort of been made more low key now. All of their members have to give 10% to the church to remain members. And you can pray your dead relatives into Mormon heaven if you can find their names. That's all I know for certain.

Missionaries are often fun to talk to, as long as you are open minded and open to hear what other's believe. I always invite them in, and also invite other religions in also like Jehovah Witnesses, etc. For basic beliefs I would look at mormon.org. There is also lds.org, which is more for members of their church and has access to scriptures and magazines and talks by leaders in their church. They are definitely good people.
