does it mean I didn't play enough with her that day? She does this mix of meows and purrs that is really cute but sad at the same time. Kind of like she is crying. Should I do somethign about it?

She probably sleeps all day if you're not at home and just wants to play. Perhaps before you go to bed you can give her some play time. That may tire her out and you'll both get a good night sleep.

I must agree your cat wants to PLAY. Mother cats bringing their kittens dead prey to learn/play with will give that same enticing purr-y meow. It's like their saying "Oh, Come and play! I'll even let you play with this great toy!
Every couple of days our Molly (1 of 3 Females) will try to get me up again by calling outside our bedroom door and there is always least one toy in front of our door.

Cats do that.
It shows they are happy with their home.
cats will also carry insects and food they have caught into the house and make those same sounds.
It is their way of drawing your attention and saying - look what i have caught for us master...
just praise the cat and give it some more attention.
It can be a hassle sometimes because of feathers , blood and mess on the floor where they eat, but if you want a cat, put up with it.

Six weeks is a little young to be taken away from mom. She could be lonely. I have noticed this with my cat. She is used to living with 3 other cats now she is all by herself. She may want a friend. Try checking the ASPCA for cats that are up for adoption.

She may be wanting attention, or to play. My male cat does the same thing; I've woken up in the morning to find some of his favorite toys in bed with us. It's like he's bringing his teddybear to bed. I wouldn't worry about it too much; cats are independent and they adapt fairly well. Besides...cats were once worshipped as gods and godesses and they've not forgotten. ;-)

I think your cat wants to play. My dog Jack, a lab, does the same thing right before I go to bed. They just want out attention more and more. Like little children they are.

Cats are naturally nocturnal--meaning they are more active at night. So...all she is doing is showing you that she wants to play with you and that she doesn't understand why you are laying down and sleeping during the "best part of the day". You have to remember that cats sleep up to 18 hours a day--and those hours are generally during the day while you are at work, watching TV, or just about whenever they see fit.

So, the only you can do about it is ignore her--she'll entertain herself happily; or if she is keeping you awake, close the bedroom door to keep her out of your sleep area at night.

she may be lonely make sure you give her plenty of exercise a couple of hours before bedtime so she will be tired when you are or a playmate so she can play during the day. Offer a treat just before bedtime to let her know it not play time she'll get used to your routine before long.

May be she wants to play with you. Cat's can be so wierd. I have a cat that likes Q-tips. If I give him one that silly cat will carry it all around with him until I take it away. He doesn't play with them or anything he just carries them around.
