"i wonder what thoae athiest boneheads think of thier science now?" Quote from a member of Yahoo! Answers.

Ignoring the obvious poor spelling and grammar, does it strike anyone else as exceedingly funny that someone sitting at a computer (created by...OMG Science!!) and surfing the internet, and using electricity would write that?

Why is there such vicious animosity from Fundies regarding science and technology? Science and technology they don't seem to mind when it's making their lives easier, or saving those lives, I might add.

I know there are many religious people who try to come to terms with both science and faith, to varying degrees of success, so I'm not attacking religion here. I seriously don't understand how attacking science proves any religion is right, or how it would sway anyone, particularly when those doing the attacking, are being so hypocritcal.

So my question : Why does science and rational thought have to be the enemy?

Science and rational thought are not the enemy. God is perfectly rational and scientific. I believe completely in science, and I believe completely in God. The problem lies with people who think Christians are a bunch of ignorant simpletons who believe that God is some great genie doing voo doo magic. I'm sure a lot of things can be proven by science , but who do you think invented that? I admit that there are Christian boneheads who have nothing better to do than try to stir up a debate to make themselves feel righteous. I don't believe that is the duty of Christians. It's our duty to spread a message of love, not ignorant hatred.

You are right. If we look in the mirror that's where we will find the enemy. To many people are afraid God is going to get them.
They don't represent what Jesus is about at all.
Personally I thank God for the computer,I learned stained glass and make homemade jewelry and wouldn't be able to get my supplies if not for it.I also love to help someone with the truths I have been blessed with,so I think that anybody that does think it is the enemy should look in the mirror and realize that's who they need to worry about.

I do wish the science bashers would not only stop using computers, but also stop using medicines and other life-saving measures developed by science.

These folks are a real drag on society.

Comments like that are the result of fear-many Christian fundamentalists realise the game is up and their superstitions don't stand up to scrutiny when viewed in the light of scientific discoveries.

I don't fear science. I don't attack it. I also don't use it as an excuse to not believe in God.

They only say these things because they are very insecure, and their faith is weak.
