The benefits of a shampoo and set(I assume you are speaking of a roller set) is that the style will last until you wash it and your hair will be shiny and smooth. With a roller set all you have to do at night is wrap it to maintain the style.
Btw, there is nothing wrong with having curls. If you go to a good stylist, he or she will give you a great trendy curly do suitable for your age.

the best way to curl your hair and the stylist will also ensure that you don't leave the salon looking like a little old lady, as there are hundreds of diffrent hairstyles that can be created by roller setting, Your hair will also be healthier and have more shine to it

It makes your hair look healthier...correction your hair does become healthier. You can tell your hairdresser that after they set it and it dries they should blow dry it straight into a style that you want. This way you don't walk out of the salon looking like an old woman with a lot of curls.

Also known as Wet Set. This is the best way to make the curls stay in better. Also hair is shiner and adds more body.

You don't have to do it yourself! Time saved, pamering factor, cup of tea or two thrown in....free magazines to read and fairly innocuous chat just to take your mind off your problems for a little while.
In saying that, I hate feeling obliged to make conversation with my hairdresser.......I'm too busy looking at everyone else and what's going on. I'd rather she just asked me what I wanted and every now and again check that it still is what I want.......don't care about her hols or her sister's wedding coming up or that she's taking driving lessons or that her mum's been diagnosed with an ingrown toenail...........just bloody do my hair and let ME relax....that's what I'm paying you for!!!!

your hair will be curled professionally and you will feel great about it. Don't worry you will not look like an old lady. look at all the models and actresses our there who set their hair
