I think in a way it does. Because I want them to know I'm happy with this guy. I want them to know he is a good guy. Your family has good instincts so if they tell you something wrong about him, you should really listen and consider what they are saying to you.

No one cares about you as much as your family. Their opinion is very important, but they never have the last say. Don't forget that if you have a relationship with a guy that the family hates, it will hurt your relationship with your family in the long run and make your relationship with him very difficult.

it shouldn't but it does. but then again, i wont know as ive only brought one bf to meet my family and my mom liked him. but i decided that i dont after 3 years of long distance, ideologically challenged relationship. felt like i sticked with the guy that long coz my mom's opinion (a good one) of him is forcing me to stay with him. when i finally broke up with him i felt so relieved albeit a lil bit lost. ive vowed to not introduce my bfs to my family until im ready for a totally serious rship--- translate as contemplating marriage. That has been like 4 yrs ago!

It does for me. I don't think it should but it does in a way. My mother has great insight and sometimes she sees something in the guy I am dating that I don't see until later. In the end it is important that you like this guy. They just have to tolerate him.

It definitely does. Especially if you come from a conservative family! Believe it or not, it's difficult to detach from those feelings!

No, but then I'm a grown woman and I live my life for me, not anyone else...my family wouldn't be dating him.
