Are you asking this . . .if your teacher doesn't treat you with respect, should you still treat him or her with respect? That depends on your personal values and character. I try to treat all people with kindness and respect whether or not they deserve it because my behavior reveals more about me than it does the person it is directed toward.

Others try to determine who deserves kindness or respect and give it out in measured doses. You need to decide what kind of person you will be.

If you are asking if you should "feel" respect for a teacher who doesn't deserve it, the answer is no. The kind of deep respect that we feel for someone has to be earned. Still we can behave with respect, reflected in the words we use and our facial expressions and body language, whether or not we "feel" that deep respect inside.

Depends on what you did to earn their lack of respect. Nor are you compelled to respect a teacher just because they're a teacher. Respect must be earned. You do, however, have to listen to your teacher, do your homewor, and behave in class. If not, don't expect a passing grade.

Nope.... But Id have a talk with the teacher first.. Shows your not just being a jerk. Tell them you wish they respected more for who you are, and what your Ideals are.. If the act like an idiot let him know that it is hard for you to respect him as a teacher because you are trying to bring this situation to a conclusion and he isn't helping any. Let him know respect is earned not given, and you have obviously tried to take a step forward towards him respecting you through your actions but his lack of a compromise towards the situation gives you grounds for your lack of respect to him.

you should, because they are the teacher, but its very difficult to. if a teacher didn't like me then i'd have a hard time liking them and respecting them.

that doesnt mean you should be delibrately disrespectful to your teacher though... don't show attitude and don't be rude... but if they dont respect you then no one can expect you to respect them.

Respect is earned.

Sometimes it is earned by virtue of age or position.

Yes, you bet I respected my teachers, even if I thought they were goofy/idiotic/stupid.

in order for me to respect anyone, they must behave in a manner worthy of respect; and that includes being respectful of everyone around them, no matter how they feel about them. now, someone may truly not respect me, but they should still behave respectfully toward me.
