There is some really good hiking in Pasadena and surrounding towns. Pasadena Playhouse is a very good theater production house. There are some exceptional places to eat (Derrek's, Parkway Grille, Cafe Bizzou - check spelling on those). Great bars, particularly Barney's Beanery. Union Cattle Compnay is also very good for a steak and or a drink. Descanso Gardens and the LA Arboretum are both very close-by. Rose Bowl parade is coming up. Norton Simon museum. Pasadena Ice Skating center. Paseo Colorado mall. Brookside Golf course (world class-36 holes). Also Altadena, Scholl Canyon and Eaton Canyon courses are decent. Exceptional people watching, shopping and eating in Old Town. Pie and Burger on California. Santa Anita racetrack (when in season). Wakano (spelling?) on Fair Oaks is a Chinese food/Japanese food/sushi/bar/dance club open till 4am.
Pasadena is a pretty good place to be. But again, for the wildest nightlife, Hollywood is a better bet.

okay...people that said there is NOTHING to do in Pasadena have obviously never been there. Old town Pasadena is PACKED on the weekends, tons or shops, bars, movie theaters, restaurants, etc. Swap meets also at the Rose Bowl, Pasadena City College. If you want culture, go to the Norton Simon museum, Huntington Gardens, etc. There are wilder places in Hollywood...but parts or Hollywood are really sleazy now, so be careful what area you end up in. Pasadena is at least a safe place to hang out.

One place I highly recommend is Huntington Gardens in Pasadena. It's a combination botanical garden and art museum. The grounds are beautiful, and the art museum is fantastic. The famous Blue Boy painting is there. Other places to check out in and near LA are the beaches,Disneyland,Universal Studios,Magic Mountain,The Tolerance Museum, and the Gettysburg Museum. I also recommend a drive up the beautiful Pacific Coast Highway to Malibu.

I'm from Chicago, but I stayed in CA for about a month 3-4 years ago and I don't think there is anything to do in Pasadena, you have to go to Hollywood and even then the only jumping is the parties on Sunset and Hollywood Blvd. My cousin lives in San Fransicso and drives to Hollywood every weekend to party.
Good luck

The Rose Bowl Flea Market, third Sunday of everyone.
Old Towne has tons of shops, restaurants, theaters, antique stores and bookshops. In addition to the ubiquitous malls.
If you're looking for swinging parties, you may have to look elsewhere.

I'm sorry I read this question and just broke out laughing...but I shouldn't--it's more of a residential area type thing.., assuming you are not going to be there for a football game, there is the Norton Simon museum or hanging out at the Cal Tech computer Labs....but why would you for Gods sake...West Hollywood is a short Freeway trip away...sheeesh....

Go to Hollywood Blvd. its about 15mins by freeway. Check out all the clubs on Sunset Blvd. and if you are gay check out clubs on Santa Monica Blvd. There isn't much to do in Pasadena itself except for the few bars and clubs on Colorado Blvd. (their main strip).
