They go to Heaven.
Edit:
Since they have not KNOWINGLY sinned, they are innocent and safe under the Grace of God, as are all children; (that would include mentally retarded individuals) who have not reached the age of accountability.
EDIT:
RED EYE
That's some sick kind of logic you have working for you there!

The unborn babies that die, go to the same place that we all go to when we die. The word hell, hades, sheol, all basically mean the same thing and that is the common grave of mankind. God is love. He would not create a place to torment any of his creation.
Ecclesiastes 9:5: "For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten."
Psalms 146:3 & 4: "Do not put YOUR trust in nobles,
Nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs.
4 His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground;
In that day his thoughts do perish."
John 5:28 & 29: " Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment."
Acts 24:15: "I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous"
After the resurrection of the ones that have died, the ones who did not know Jehovah before they died will have plenty of time to learn all about him and to then decide if they will accept and serve him. Then they will be judged upon the choices they make after they have gained accurate knowledge of God. So don't be too sad about the little unborn babies, they will not suffer in a hell of torment! Smile, God has a wonderful future planned for the ones who learn about him and love him.

ok, i might prefer to appreciate who mentioned that because of the fact i think of they choose their head examined. Aborted babies do not pass to hell they are harmless they might pass right away to heaven and into Gods palms. the different unusual element is this 33 365 days element in hell. as quickly as you pass to hell there ain't no getting out and going to heaven. You pass to hell you reside there. The Catholics have confidence in a position called purgatory, which people who've sinned pass to until their sins are forgiven and then are admitted into heaven. Purgatory isn't hell that is like a waiting room for choose of a greater helpful description and the harmless do not pass there the two. The contraceptive element being an early abortion is yet another element that's mindless. often times i think of that even however we've superior so far we are nonetheless backwards. i understand the Catholics are a variety of communities that do not have confidence in contraceptives they experience to circumvent a being pregnant is a sin. yet on the different hand it may well be a guy who does not carry babies into the international who might think of that way. many women folk of Catholic faith use contraceptives, We do purely not promote it inspite of each thing its none of anybodies business enterprise. I for one do not have confidence in abortion with the exception of specific situations that is not a contraceptive and should not be abused. yet an aborted newborn is going to heaven that's inspite of each thing very harmless.

How can any christian give an authoritative answer on this -- NOWHERE in the bible does it say anything about it. These same fundamentalists that claim the bible is the absolute word of god, and that everything you ever need to know is in there, will answer this with "they go to heaven!", but can't back it up with any biblical scripture...in other words, they made up the answer 'cause it's what they want to think.
There is no evidence of any kind that there is any such thing as a "soul," despite people trying to find one for thousands of years. There's also no evidence of any kind for "heaven, "hell," god, jesus, or any of the other superstitious myths promoted by ignorant, illogical, fearful religious devotees. They can't even be consistent in their own statements, let alone give any question or problem rational thought. Hopeless.

Gen 2:7 We are the soul, we do not poses a soul, although we do posses a spirit, which is given to us by God, the spirit we posses is our breath, the breath of life, which returns to God when we die. After the judgment, the Saints, Rev 12:14 & 14:17, live for ever with God, and the wicked are destroyed, body, spirit, and memory(our memory of them) and thier works. Children who are not aware enough to beable to make the choice between good and bad, go to heaven, all others go to where their choices have led them.

The Bible teaches that any person who is incapable of making a moral decision in their lives, such as small children or babies, people who are mental retarded, etc, are not held responsible for their actions. No "sin" can be counted against them because they were not mental capable of undertanding their actions. So such people get into heaven.
It is a shame that their lives were stolen from them. Who knows that benefits they could have brought to mankind had they not been slain as an infant.

The go to heaven. Children whether born or unborn and other who have like NO knowledge of Christianity will go to heaven. We are given free will but if the person doesn't know...you can't be sent to hell cause you never knew Christianity existed....I forgot where but it's in the Bible where it tells you about children.

I haven't been able to find anything about this in the Bible, so this is just an opinion. I can't see how a God of love would send an unborn baby to hell. The baby never learned about Christ in order to accept Him. I think that the babies are covered under the blood of Jesus in their innocence.
I'm curious what others will say (and it's best to ignore the immaturity....they're starved for attention)

the bible actually does not say what happens to babies and unborns and young children who never got the chance to be saved. but i personally believe that God, being a loving and merciful God, would take those innocent souls to Heaven.

A person does not have to be saved to go to Heaven until they have reached the "age of accountability." Although there is not a single passage that says this word for word, many passages refer to children entering Heaven because of innocence.
