they are two different form factors (i.e. different sizes)
xD cards are for Olympus and Fuji cameras.
Most others use SD
'cept Sony.

an SD card will NOT work in a camera that takes xD cards.
xD cards are smaller (25.0mm (W) x 20.0mm (H) x 1.7mm (D) in size) and slightly more expensive than the SD cards. They are available up to 2Gb sizes right now.

The two are different sizes.
They are not interchangeable.
The xd cards usually cost a bit more than the SD. SD is used in more cameras than the xd.

There must be no situation setting up a a million Gb card yet take your digital camera with you once you purchase a 2Gb so that you'll try one previously you purchase as some manufacturers of two Gb playing cards gained't artwork. certain there's a huge % strengthen of fifty% between the 7 & 10 Mbs playing cards.

The difference is an X and an S I believe..Also size ,cost and availability. I would go for the SD any time....

Every camera has a specific card format as decided by the manufacturer. You can use another type of card then the one they say to use. It could be SD, XD, CF, etc. The largest capacity and cheapest are the CF (compact flash).
