Why would you think it wasn't?. Even if you believe the world was created (which of course I do and it was), that still does not rule out the fact that the earth is VERY old. The creative days were not a literal 24 hours each.
2 Peter 3:8: "However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day."
This is not to mean that each day was a thousand years either, but rather to show that a day can cover a large expanse of time.
Psalms 93: 1b: "The productive land also becomes firmly established so that it cannot be made to totter."
Both the sun and the moon are necessary for the earth to go on being productive and maintaining the proper atmosphere for us to live, so if the earth will not be made to totter, then we don't have to worry about losing our moon. I am pretty sure as well that those beautiful stars will be around for many more millions of years, plus some. So sit back and enjoy...I think our earth and the skys above are safe.
Psalms 37:29: "The righteous themselves will possess the earth,
And they will reside forever upon it.'
Notice how long the righteous (those right with God) will reside upon the earth...FOREVER!

The earth is 4.6 billion years old, the moon was flung out of it from a giant impact about 4.5 million years ago. At the rate it is moving away it will be a while before we have to worry about it leaving. The stars are moving too. They way they looked even a few thousand years ago is different than what we see today.

It is actually about 5 billion years old. And the moon is not moving away from the earth. And yes, they look great. Yes, the universe is amazing. Why does that mean it should not be that old? And why do people think the age of the earth would say anything about the existance of God?

Because it is. If the moon is moving away from the earth a couple of millimeters per year, who cares, and what does it prove? I agree, the stars do look great, but exactly what does that have to do with the your question?

It's *not* millions of years old -- it's BILLIONS of years old.
The moon is moving away from the earth at about 1cm per year. At an average (now) of about 380,000 kilometers, that means it moves about 0.000000002 percent of it's distance further away every year, or 1% further every 50,000,000 years. Yes, 1% further every 50 MILLION years. That's why we still have a moon.
What about the stars? The closest start to us is Proxima Centauri, about 4.5 light years away. That's 15,837,379,200,000 kilometers, roughly.
I don't "believe" the earth is billions of years old, I have done a logical and rational evaluation of the evidence -- thousands of pieces of evidence from geology, biology, archaeology, cosmology, astronomy, meteorology, and dozens of other sciences -- every single piece of evidence ever gathered to determine the age of the earth supports the 4.5 billion-year timeline. There is no contradictory evidence of any kind.
Perhaps you might join us in the 21st century and start using that brain that has evolved so nicely for you to be able to learn to reason with it...? :)

When the moon moves out of orbit we are doomed. Seriously. It is what keeps the rotation of the earth on axis.
The moon gave us the climate that lets life as we know it exist. Maybe we should be worshiping it. I'm not sure how long it has been there, not since the beginning of earth. I'll have to look into that.

because the earth is a larger body then the moon or gravitational pull effects the moon the only course it takes through space is dictated by where the earth goes.
the earth isn't millions of years old it's a billion + years old.

Well probably because they are.
The Moon is moving away....so that proves what?
As for the sun I think ours only has 6 billion years left before it collapses to a white dwarf

True. At the rate the moon is moving away from earth, several several hundred thousands of years ago it would have been touching earths surface!

I totally can why you asked this question. According to Biblical recordings the earth is probably less than 10,000 years old.
