What are the best ab exercises that I can do to target the various ab areas to burn off the layer of fat? I've cut back on soda, sweet tea, and sugary foods. My diet is lean meat, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, carbs minimal and dairy products.

The best ab exercises are 'ab crunchies', and almost all of the variations of ab crunchies. Make sure you don't do crunchies in positions that put strain on your lower back, you're actually doing more damage than good when you do that. Most pilates exercises are also very good for your abs. Good Luck, you sound like you will be successful in this area of concentration!

Variety is key. You need to train at different angles and surprise/shock the muscles.

Swimming is great and kicking a heavy bag is good too.

crunches is for lazy people who want to lay on the floor.

Hang from a bar, and swing your legs straight up using muscle of the stomach only.

Roman chair sit-ups are very good for targeting certain abdominal areas. You can also hold free weights to really intensify the workout.
