Cetain religions tend to shy away from questions like: If there is a loving god, Why does god allow so much evil in the world? Why does god let people live with such excruciating disablities? Why does god allow war? You will be amazed at the unfulfilling answers that you will receive. Some are positively rhetorical. Answers like: God moves in mysterious ways; or you have to have faith; or...God gave us the will to choose?????? I have never had a valid answer to these questions yet.
I agree with Marx....religion is 'opium of the masses!!!'
In response to the previous answer given by: JamesT (I point out that no offence is intended!!) But I could never understand how Jehovah's Witnesses would allow their child or loved one to die rather than let them have a blood transfusion? I feel that this is a valid enquiry, but am often met with abuse and rhetorical answers. J W's do not like gays, and they do not allow smoking, to the point of banning their 'brothers' and 'sisters' from their flock if they continue to do so???? They also do not condone divorce, however one of their founder members was a divorcee???

Most of the time. They'll tell you to stop inquiring and take it on faith. I find Doubting Thomas to be one of the few admirable people in the entire bible.
A more interesting question is WHY religions shy away from questions. I feel the answer is obvious.

When they don't have the answers.
Matthew 15:14
LET them be. Blind guides is what they are. If, then, a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”
I's a bit much to expect someone to come up with every answer straight away, but they should be able to come back to you a little time later with the answer. I've had a free Bible study with the Jehovah's Witnesses, had a lot of questions, and have had all of them answered convincingly.

When or why? I think it is only people that shy away from questions. Why ask where life arose if you can save a lot of legwork by just drinking the Genesis Kool-Aid®?

I do not belong to a man invented "religion". But you may ask any honest question concerning The True Christian Faith. If you have an honest question concerning the basics of The Faith you may email me.

When a person does not have an answer or when the person answering has a problem in not excepting what the Bible says themselves.

If a religious teacher cannot answer your questions using God's Word the bible then don't listen to him/her.
They should always back up every answer or belief with scripture.
If you have any serious bible question, please dont hesitate to email me. I will always use scriptures in my answers
:)
