pack it in bubble wrap inside of a styrofoam protected box that will fit the bottle and its wrapping snuggly....mark it as fragile and mail it to the destination addressed to yourself through the postal service..(mail it two day priority or next day for about $15.00)....this way when it arrives it will not get opened (should it arrive before you) because it is addressed to you...also if you want to hide the fact that it is a gift use a slightly larger box with say shoes or a jacket in it (added protection here) so that when the package does arrive there will be no question as to why....it will simply be because you really didnt want to separate your things at the risk of the airline losing them!

Carry-on liquids are still restricted to 3 oz or less so don't even try to take it as a carry on because you will lose it.A bottle of wine will have to be in your checked baggage; since this is the only option, make sure that you package it well.
If you can package your wine separately (like in it's own box, container) and mark it "fragile/glass/handle with care" and check it in that way, it will probably be better handled than if it were simply in your suitcase. Baggage handlers don't know if something is fragile in your bag, they're just trying to get the bags on and off the plane quickly.
Hope that helps.

I don't believe that you can take wine on board the aircraft with you. If you go to the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they set the regulations on what you can and can not bring on the aircraft with you. There is a complete list located on their website. If you have to pack the wine, I would suggest that you buy a particular piece of luggage, which they have, for traveling with wine. You want to make sure that it is secured and packed nicely or your will have a lot of broken glass, and wet clothes when you get to your destination.
Good luck and have a great flight!

You can't take it as a carry on because it is too big to fit in a ziploc bag. The only thing you could do is pack it well, securely padded, in your luggage. Wrap soft blankets or clothes around it and make sure it fits snugly.

You are going to have to put it in your checked luggage or perhaps ship it ahead of time. I just travelled with a bottle of rum in my checked bag with no problem. Make sure you wrap it up well--plastic grocery bags, and put in the middle of your suitcase surrounded by clothes, etc. you could even wrap it in a bath towel for extra protection.

i've brought it in my luggage and it's been fine.. if you have those hard paper cylinders that certain alcohol bottles come in like for example whiskey.. then put in that and stick socks around it inside the cylinder.. also wrap the cylinder in sweaters. This is probably the best way because i don't know if you can bring it as carry-on

With the new restrictions, I wouldn't take it carry-on. It shouldn't be a problem, but screeners vary from gate to gate, and airport to airport, so if you aren't lucky, they may give you a hard time. I've had luck rolling plastic bag covered bottles in a few layers of shirts and sweaters, and stashing them firmly in the center of my bag. Should be enough to protect it, and will save most of the damage should it break.

You can't carry it on with you. You'd have to check it in your luggage. Just wrap it up in a few towels and tie a string around it. It should be OK.

What I did for Thanksgiving was wrap them in bubble wrap, then stilck them in an old shoe box I had in the closet. Worked beautifully.
