I agree with Angel-eyes. Love is not a feeling or something you start out with. Love takes time and is actions and behaviors that are developed over time. So to answer your question... if you're attracted to the guy and like his personality and you 2 have similar interests and morals, then sure it'd be OK to date him, get to know him, and see if you're compatible and maybe someday can learn to love one another. To completely answer your question I have to tell you exactly what love truly is...
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails.

Of course I'd consider it, then I'd stop being selfish and decide otherwise. That is not fair to do to a person. You wouldn't appreciate someone using you, right?
I suggest finding someone to spend time with, and being open about your expectations. You can just date, play the field, or find a "friend with benefits". If you aren't looking for love, don't pretend for the sake of excitement.

That would be called desperate.
Most people don't LOVE someone right when they begin dating, but they should see it in the future. There should be, at least, a foundation.... a friendship. And, you should like the guy. Otherwise... you will cause harm to him and yourself.
