This disease is assumed to be variable with peaks and troughs with rather vague symptoms.

Is there a scientific test and what are the figures to look for?

my partner has just had treatment for this done (radio iodine), he was put on three different types of medication before this but none worked, so this was the option left, although he had to sign a disclaimer not to sue the nhs, if he gets cancer of the thryroid or cancer of the gut! because the chances are now a lot higher for him, but if he had not have had this done he could have been dead sooner, because he every syptom there is, sweating, shaking, loss of weight very rapidly, heart beating to fast, very tired all the time, faint, and terrible gut acid. It was first noticed when he was 23 years old, he lost a lot of weight very quickly and tested him for diabetes and an over active thyroid, he had the latter of the two! syptoms vary and if you suspect you could have this then get tpo a doctor because if its left untreated it can get very serious, xx

BASICALLY, THYROXINE IS PRODUCED FROM THE THYROID GLAND BECAUSE A HORMONE CALLED TSH (FROM THE PITUITARY GLAND) TELLS IT TO. WHEN THE LEVEL OF THYROXINE GOES TOO HIGH, THE PITUITARY GLADN DETECTS THIS AND THE TSH LEVEL GOES DOWN TO TELL THE THYROID GLAND 'HOLD ON...WE'VE GOT PLENTY...WE DON'T NEED ANY MORE JUST NOW'.

WHEN THE THYROXINE LEVEL GOES DOWN, THE PITUITARY GLAND DETECTS THIS AND THE TSH LEVEL GOES UP TO TELL THE THYROID GLAND 'SPEED UP PRODUCTION BECAUSE WE HAVEN'T GOT ENOUGH TO GO ROUND'.

IN SOMEONE WITH AN OVERACTIVE THYROID, THE USUAL TREATMENT IS EITHER REMOVAL OF THE THYROID SURGICALLY OR WITH RADIOACTIVE IODINE, OR THE IT IS BLOCKED CHEMICALLY WITH THE DRUGS CARBIMAZOLE OR PROPYLTHIOURACIL, THE EFFECT BEING TO SWITCH OFF THE THYROID GLAND. WHEN THE BLOOD TESTS ARE DONE THOUGH, THEY ARE NOT CHECKING THE LEVEL OF THYROXINE, THEY ARE CHECKING THE LEVEL OF TSH. SOME PEOPLE NEED MORE THYROXINE THAN OTHERS, BUT WHEN THE LEVEL IS RIGHT FOR THAT PERSON, THE TSH LEVEL IS THE SAME.

AS FOR THE NUMBERS, THEY ARE DEPENDENT UPON WHICH LAB THE BLOOD GETS SENT TO, SO I WOULDN'T WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT THE NUMBERS.

Thyroid disease is one of the most common health problems we face today. From a practical standpoint, there are many ways to approach this issue. Learn here https://tr.im/89T0p

Hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid, is a very common problem, and there are many reasons for this, including drinking chlorinated and fluoridated water, and eating brominated flour.

Chlorine, fluoride, and bromine are all in the same family as iodine, and can displace iodine in your thyroid gland.

Secondly, many people simply aren't getting enough iodine in their diet to begin with. The amount you get from iodized salt is just barely enough to prevent you from getting a goiter.

It depends on what's causing the thyroid to be overactive. An Endocrinologist is the best type of doctor to see for this. They will run very specific tests and monitor the condition.
