Tap water, saline, and soapsuds are the most common solutions for large volume enemas, and the volume will range between approximately a pint (500 cc) and two quarts (2000 cc).

You will mostly likely be positioned on your left side with your upper leg drawn up slighty toward your chest. The nurse will try to protect your modesty to the extent possible, but she will need to insert the nozzle or tubing into your rectum.
