I'm enough of an existentialist to have seen the abyss, the danger of losing all purpose, hope and meaning. Which will mean nothing to those who have not been somewhere similar.

Kierkegaards's religious existentialism I dislike intensely.
"What is the truth FOR ME?" does not touch the question of whether god exists or not. And while the emphasis on personal conviction has its place as a counterbalance to a structure of doctrinal authority (religious, political or social), to carry it to the limit of insisting that there is no truth except from a personal perspective. Follow that path to post-modernism and somehting approaching a second Babel.

Jesus is not "died and risen" just for those who feel it. It either happened or it didn't. Either for all or for none. Anything else is a historical nonsense.

Similarly for secular existentialism. There is a lot more room for doubt than many traditional systems propose. but that leads to a less comfortable world. No wonder various authorities react by admitting no uncertainty at all.

But if authority is to be doubted then the individual is thown on their own resources, at least in part, if not totally.
Once again, at the extreme, meaninglessness and lostness threatens. A world with no landmarks, no compass, no lighthouse.

It may not be entirely a good thing to understand Beckett's "Waiting for Godot" or "Endgame"

A possible way out..? Yes, I can conceive of one, but it's not easy to formulate. If I can borrow from Douglas Adams, it involves "clearly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty."

Where the heck do all these ISMs and ISTs come from ? I'm a non-believerist. I believe only in naturalisms.

It doesn't matter what your view on religion and God is. It still doesn't change fact. Try asking God for Guidance, and see what you come up with
