i will be explaining u the difference between hibernate and shutdown
if u r using any program and u minimize it and shut down it ur data will be lost... whereas if u hibernate u will not use the computer its power will be off but it automatically saves the minimized programs information on its RAM so when u switch on again it gives u that program in its previous state

Hibernates keep things in RAM so when you close your computer and start it up everything that was stored in RAM will load up again. This is most useful if you plan on using the computer later. Some stuff are also stored in a specific place in the hard drive.
However always keeping your computer on hibernate instead of shutting it down will cause some problems. You mighe experience Application errors that pop up. Those funny 344xx00xx00 in memory. That means the memory couldn't refresh fast enough.
When you shut down a comptuter everthing goes off and nothing is stored in RAM or hard drive. When you startup RAM will be written and hard drive will start up.
Recomendations: I would only use hibernate for the day. If you plan to use the comptuer later in a few hours it is best to hibernate the comptuer so you can access the information later and faster.
If you are going to bed or you have no need for your laptop for a while then shut down is good. Even though it will be slow to startup you can hibernate the comptuer once it starts up.
Hibernate is meant for short term while shut down is meant for longer. In hibernate minimum power is running for the RAM only to keep your information if power goes out doesnt matter because it is wirrten in RAM till you turn on the computer to charge it up again.

Hybernating is the process in which ur PC copies all files exist in RAM to hard disk and at next start it compies files from hard disk to ram so there is no time required for booting. In shut down process PC closes all programs and shuts off and when again started it boots up mean cheks hardware and loads windows files to RAM but in hobernate windows files are allready loaded. Now u may think that apart from shut down PC u will allways hibernate, but if u allways hibernate to save time, new hardware can not be discoverd also there may be errors in RAM . So we can use hibernate when we want do not want to loose work and save power also. But at last shut down is the best. Regarding to ur clock changes- After hibernating no clock changes done. I think ur PC facing somr problem so u are getting change is time. Also there is a 3V battery in CPU to run clock when power is off. I think that battery must be finsihed. That is a good thing to change that battery once in 2 years.

if you go to shut down it will close all open programs and turn the computer completely off.. if you use hibernate it will leave programs open that you may be working on and turn off the most of the power but keep enough on that your programs can still remain open. It is a power down mode but not a total power off mode..

when we shut down our computer it stop all program and cut power supply but when we hibernate the computer it save running program in memory which we allocate earlier and then cut off the supply so when we again start computer it takes that running program from that memory and run them we can schedule the hibernating .

when u shut down the PC all the channels r switched of with thati mean all the processes r killed and closed..
but with hibernation .. your Hard disk goes off but all the process keep running in the background.
by the word process i mean
if u press ctrl+ alt + del.
a window opens and if u see the process tab you will find loads of process running..
so at time of shutdown all those process stop workin
but in hiberantion thy keep working. .
