They WILL RESENT YOU! and as a result they will learn how to cope with out you. Unless they learn to understand what you are trying to do for them. But Children aren't always that reasonable and may not be able to understand, I certainly don't blame then and I am an adult. Sure we want our kids to HAVE THE BEST of everything. But as you can see from our current society that it's NOT ALWAYS A GOOD THING. Kids have allot of STUFF these days, and grown ups have allot of DEBT! Kids don't need STUFF they need love and guidance. Not a PS III. Kids are so spoiled these days because parents feel the guilt of working all day and being to tired to spend time with them. This is really bad because I see allot of kids who grow to become kid/adults that can't cope with the simplest tasks of daily life, there seems to be NO RESPECT FOR OTHERS, NO MORALS, AND NO SELF ESTEEM left these days. Try and get a job with better hours and even if the money is tight, Make that a value to teach your kids. How to save and only spend on the necessities of life. But the togetherness you have with them is what is important.

I think you need to rethink your position. It's important to consider your kids emotional needs as well. You're certainly thinking about their physical needs but later on down the line, when they grow up, they will wonder, "why didn't mom spend more time with us?" As adults they will understand the financial aspect but they will also more than likely think you thought more of your job than you did them.
These are issues that could possibly affect their ENTIRE lives.
My mother did not have the kind of job you do as far as travelling but she was gone a lot for work--having long hours--and when she got home, she was tired.
As a child, that hurt me. I wondered, "why won't my mommy play cards with me?"
Think about that. It's important!!
Their relationship with you affects their relationship with EVERYbody else they encounter in their lives.

sometimes working alot doesn't make up for the time seeing them grow. they are only young once, you want to share those moments with them. there are always going to be jobs but your babies are only going to be young once and they need to know who their mother is and do mother things with them.

Talk to them. They'll understand. When you get off work spend as much time as you can with them.

You are doing the right thing. Just make sure that when you are with them, you really are 'with' them.
