Apparently this is binge drinking...I was under the impression that binge drinking was if one drinks practically on a daily basis...not so. The only thing that may stop you is self control...However knowing the short term and long term effects of alcohol might put you off. I will give you a list of the effects. If you want an instant solution I suggest you take away the trigger. The trigger is being in a setting which encourages drinking i.e a pub, wine bar, club. So I suggest you stay well clear of them if you can.

EFFECTS OF ALCOHOL
1Trembling fingers
2.Numbness, loss of sensation in fingers.
3.Liver damage
4.Liver cirrhosis
5.Fatty Liver
6.Hepatitis.
7.Facial deterioration.
8.Drinkers nose.
9.Premature aging
10.Heart failure.
11.High blood pressure
12.Weakness of heart muscle
13.Impaired blood clotting
14.Inflammation of stomach.
15.Ulcers
16.Inflammation of pancreas (can come on suddenly and lead to death)
17.Reduced fertility
18.Impaired Sexual performance
19.Gout
20.Diabetes
21Damage to nervous system
22.Epilepsy
23.Demetia
24.Peripheral neuritis

These are but a few of the problems alcohol can cause....ALCOHOL POISONING which can lead to death is a immediate danger everytime you binge drink.

You seem to have the control to only go out one day a week, and that's fine. However, once you're there you don't know when to stop. Don't say you'll just have three or four, tell yourself you'll have none, and buy your own (non-alcoholic) drinks. Also, try going out with people that don't want to be hammered, or go somewhere else like the cinema or a restaurant. Bringing less money is a good idea, as long as your friends aren't generous or want to see you drunk. If you think it is becoming a real problem then don't go out, but that's a little extreme.

It`s a prooven fact that binge drinking is on the increase in Britain and that binge drinkers tend to go out once a week or even less. You seem to fall in to this classification.I would suggest that you go out every night for a week and get hammered every night. At the end of that week you`ll be so pissed off with all your hangovers and buckets of sick that you won`t want to drink to excess when you go out, you`ll want 2 or 3 drinks and the thought of a bucket of sick will stop you wanting any more.

Have a good meal before you go out and when you drink, just take a mouthful each time you raise the glass rather than pouring half a glass straight down your throat in one go. This way the drink will last longer and you wont drink as much.

Go out later and only take enough money for 3 or 4 drinks

Take only a limited amount of money eg £10 so you can get some drinks but not too many!

Stick to Coke or something non alcoholic - how about challenge your mates to try all the non-alcoholic cocktails one evening!

Be self-diciplined, decide on a reasonable number of alcoholic drinks, say 4, and stick to it...go on to coke after!
