I have been sedated before for a procedure, and thank God! Since I'm not dead, I can't tell you if it feels like dying or not, but if that's what dying feels like, then great! All I did was take a nap. When I woke up, there was no pain, but I remember being a little irritated that the nurse was waking me up, when all I wanted to do was sleep a little longer.

There is always the risk for complications during surgery. That being said, gallbladder surgery is very routine and it is probably much more likely for you to develop problems related to your gallbladder being left in than something happening to you doing surgery.

I'm not sure if you can use regional anesthesia for that surgery. I would call your doctor/surgeon and find out. I was put to sleep to get my wisdom teeth taken out and I don't remember falling asleep or anything. It was the best sleep I've ever had! Tell them to give you the laughing gas before the anesthesia.
