We have fondues all the time. A glass of Kirsch compliments the kirsch in the fondue. I prefer a dry savignon blanc myself as the crispness compliments the extreme richness of the melted cheeses.
(granny smith apples are good in this fondue as well as the bread chunks)

I'd suggest a sweet wine with a sharp cheese (like Bleu), or a dry wine with a milder cheese (like jack).
