By today's definition, no. Back in the day when the women stood up for their rights, it was great to be a feminist, because they did a lot for the ERA movement. Women should have all the same rights men have without question. It's still okay stick up for the rights of your race, gender, etc.

The problem with feminists today is the special rights they demand. Ever hear of the Violence Against Men Act? Nope, because it doesn't exist. Every hear of government funded Battered Men's Shelters? Nope, only for women, men aren't allowed. I could go on and on, but my point is that the fem-Nazis we have today demand more and more while taking rights away from others. The movement is fueled by anger and hate rather than equality and peace.

Nooo, I'm all for equal rights, but its been painfully obvious that feminists are men haters. Like all special interest groups, they have changed there demands over the years. Early on, it was a bunch of ugly women who were jealous of how easy dumb blondes got promoted in the workplace. So, they demanded that a woman should be judge because of her mind not her body. They also claimed that the only differences between men and women were their plumbing. They tried to convince the world that if you gave a boy a doll and a girl a football that their personalities would reverse. It was simply a lie. They have done their very best to convince women that a man's only role in the world is to produce a sperm if a woman wanted a child, otherwise they are not really needed. Another lie. They are now ok with women who act slutty (ala Madonna) as long as it advances their careers.

It CAN be a good thing, if your a rational feminist. If a feminist wants more rights than a man, than I think this is wrong. No sex is more important than the other, I personally think we are all equal. If a feminist wants equal rights, such as getting paid just as much as her male coworkers, then this is a good thing. There is a fine line between standing for what you believe in, and just being plain silly.

I don't know. When I think of feminist I think of those scary women who are loud, overly aggressive and obnoxious. They're anti men, family and etc. They're "manly" and mean. I know that this isn't true for all feminist, but that's what I picture when I think of the word feminist. I don't want to be associated with that picture. I am pro women. I believe that women are smart enough and capable enough to do anything. I also think that women should have all the rights that men and other groups have. Etc etc. But....I don't want to be associated with feminists.

There are so many different kinds of feminism. I consider myself a feminist after a fashion. I think that viewing men and women as equally valuable and pointing out discrimination in our society is a good thing.

It depends.

Do you just want to hate men?

I think those feminist men haters hate men because
men refuse to carry the baby for 9 months.

Do you really want equal rights?

Never going to happen. There is absolutely no way this
man is going to carry and give birth to babies.
So that screws your equal rights.

What about fair rights?
Now that I can work with.
I treat you fairly, and you treat me fairly.
End result, everybody is happy except those people
who fight for superior rights under the guise of equal
rights.
Ok, so this won't please everybody.
But then, I never said I would now did I?

Depends on your definition of 'feminist' but if you need a label to define who you are and what you believe then no, it is not good.

In its purest sense, it is good. It says that women are just as capable and deserving of respect as men. Go egalitarianism!
