constant lying, failure to develop empathy, expect their desires to be catered to them, loving someone for doing what they want, black and white thinkers (no middle ground or moderation), blames other
less responsible, intolerant, and deficient in self-control

There are no "symptoms", more's the pity...criminality is not a disease. If it was, don't you think that someone would have cured it by now? I'm not sure that people wake up on a beautiful morning and look themselves in the mirror & say "Today, I'm going to commit crime"...not unless they've been planning to do so for a long time. Criminality starts with a lack of moral strength (sorry to sound preachy!); the Good Book says "Thou shalt not steal, kill, commit false witness or adultery"...but "Desperate Housewives" is getting HUGE ratings for just those things EVERY WEEK! (Yah, I admit it--I watch the show too...) There are tests you can conduct to gauge a person's level of moral fibre. TAKE THIS DOWN: Get ten wallets together & put ten dollars in each. (USE MONOPOLY MONEY--not your own!) Put I.D. in each and leave them lying around, then sit back & see how many have been returned...and if anyone asks of there's a reward for returning them. Start from there & come up with you own ideas--let me know how everything turns out, eh? *S*

A criminal usually doesn't show a lot of signs. You might see that many of them are busy with something towards the end of the day, usually between 8 and 10, the times when people are usually out of their houses. Few criminals do much during the daylight unless they just blend in that well.

They commit crimes. Criminals don't necessarily have symptoms. They have traits such a dishonesty most of the time. A symptom could be referring to mental issues such as schizophrenia which can cause individuals be not be of 'sound mind and judgement'.

you say symptoms, like being a criminal is a disease. there is no basis for determining who is a criminal and who isnt, many serial killers lived alongside people who had no idea what they did. you really cant tell by looking at someone, well except chi-mo's they have that creapy grin.

Instead of asking a bunch of non-experts, why don't you find some web sites on criminology?
('Symptom' was not only the wrong word, I think you're thinking about it wrong -- it's not like criminals have green lights flashing from their foreheads.)

I suppose you could say that that the hallmark of a criminal would be someone who has no respect or regard for others and for some crimes even himself. A simple answer but you could enlarge on that idea.

Why do you call it "symptoms" ? Is criminality a disease or the result of a bad upbringing?
