The Bible offers comfort to all people. It's God's way of reaching out to the lost, and offering his love and forgiveness to them. The best thing about it, is that since there isn't anything you can do to earn that love and forgiveness, He offers it freely to everyone. All that is required is that you be brave enough to accept His gift.

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he that said , I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.(that is Jesus).

"If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:26)

Yeah, that's really comforting. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside every time I read that one.
