How to stop them and still be able to have intelligent discussion is beyond me. I guess the best way would be to ignore the stupid stuff and maybe they will just go away... Jim

It would be nice, but it's not enforceable.
One thing that I've gotten from participation here is the shocking realization that very few religious folks know much at all about the origins of their religion (the context; the time and place, and the cultural and religious environment); the development of religious thought, and the development of the doctrines of their own religion; the *changes* in the church that they attend, and so on. And far fewer know much at all about other religions.

It would be nice if people had a basic knowledge of the bible/religion before they started arguing about it. But....what do you consider a basic knowledge about the bible? Everyone interprets the bible/religion differently. Even those people who say that they strictly read the bible, take it word for word, don't interpret it at all and etc. They're still interpreting the bible whether they want to admit it or not. A person who has a basic understanding of the bible/religion can still be stupid, argumentative, close minded and etc.

too many rules and you lose the general atmosphere here. Who's gonna be the judge of everyone else??
Everyone has an opinion and all can express them within reason. If some want to be ludicrous when ignorant they are allowed. Just skip those answers and look for the ones with substance.

Most people here have a basic knowledge of religion and argue because there are different interpretations. Catholics, Methodists, Presbyterians, Pentacostals all have different views on the means of scriptures and policy.

Yes agreed !!!
I believe that peoples should make some research before posting such questions.......its very typical here to take things out of context and then making it an excuse to attack the followers of that religion.though we explain it but its kind of load on our nerves for a while that why peoples do this.and yes one can ask that thing with good words.....rudeness is not mandatory for posting questions .but you know wht?? some peoples are meant to behave like that just to offend others.

No doubt, an atheist do not know through which way among the others that God can visit those who donot have any knowledge of religion.

I agree with you, it is somewhat frustrating, but I look at it this way: those who answer incorrectly, by being here in the first place, have an opportunity to read CORRECT answers. Hopefully, they will be humble enough to learn from those of us who have devoted innumerable hours of study to the subject in question.
Peace.

yes, but the problem is, everyone thinks they are educated and have a basic knowledge of religion.
Oh the stupidity.
Not to mention then there would only be a handful of people on this site. Ignorance is bliss, for everyone except those who have to listen to it.

personally I agree but realigious people are generally clueless and even if they 'listen' they wont 'hear' what the non-believer is saying whether they be practiced in religion in the past or just som skinhead or pinhead.
