Army recruiters in public school are wrong.?

Ive always scoffed at those uniformed lemmings dressed in green aka JROTC kids its sad really how they allow this of all things in school!! How is that possibly part of a public curriculum teaching kids from middle school and brainwashing them that joining the army is fighting terrorism , then lying to them about gettting a college degree when less then 10% actually make it out with one at all . I my self am an anti-war activist , war is so like centuries ago but really it is unnnessary as a whole . However regardless of that ascpect i find the army recruiters invasion of my school to be wrong , telling kids who didnt quite make the grade that the Army and its facility is the only way to make something honerable of themselves . How is kiling innocent people honerable ? It seems that whoever disaggres with the U.S is painted to be against us and therefor terrorist when infact its plain to see why so many other countries hate us

i have a friend here on an exchange program whoes brother was shot and kiled"by accident" by our army
if such a thing happened her it would be all over the news but hearing of deaths there is normal i guess its ok if we make mistakes killing people
its all about the money it aint about terrorist we have no right going over to other countries forcing democracy on them America has done some real dumb **** too . Countries grow up just like people do .

The military is a career that many people choose who can't afford or get into a college. Myself included, this is a good option for some people to get on track. While I don't condone all recuitors tactics...I still think the military should be represented as a career option in the school in some aspect.

If the military can't have recruitors in the high schools then we need to do away with college recruitment, career counselors, and then just let the kids figure out it all out on their own.

First of all, you have to volunteer to go into the JROTC program in school...they don't just put you there. Second, your so-called 10% of soldiers who get a degree is BS. Why would the Army spend so much money on programs such as CONAP, TA, and even award college credits based on the training you recieve, to just give 10% of soldiers a degree? It's all about the person. Not the Army. YOU are the domestic terrorist myself and all other soldiers in every branch of the armed services protect. So the next time you go out with your communist friends to go exercise the very amendment we protect, remember that you are the example of what we have done. Have you ever looked at the jobs the Army offers? These aren't entry level jobs. How do you know they were innocent? Did you see who they were? No. We all have the right to say what we want. I'm just upset that people want to bad mouth something they've never even seen. By all means, please reply.

I don't think it's wrong for kids to do JROTC or whatever, that's their decision to do something with their lives that means something to them. If they don't like it, they can change their schedule and drop it. No one is telling them they have to (or even that they can for that matter) sign a contract. I don't think that distribution of information is wrong, either, however, I saw a recruiter at my HS graduation and I thought that was unnecessary. I think that they have a right to be there, as do you and if nobody is harassing you about it, why do they pose such a problem for you? I mean, are these kids pressuring you to join JROTC or the military? I don't think so, so what's your problem, do you hate the fact that they let black kids "invade" your school too? No recruiter should ever tell a kid "it's the only way, you have to do this" and I've talked to a lot of recruiters who never said anything like that to me. And it's not the killing people that's honorable, it's defending your land, your home, from people who are trying to kill you and your family, that's what's honorable. That's what gets me. Every day men and women are dying to protect your freedoms and all you can say is you hate them and they are invading your space. Grow up and support the people who are dying so that you can ***** on the internet.

Learn to kill at 18? How about younger for those who hunt?!? I've recruited people who had the means and smarts to go, but don't. They wanted to do something other than more school. Lying to them about getting a college degree? Who's responsible getting the education, the military or the individual? It's the INDIVIDUAL, not the military. We give them means, they still have to make the effort. You don't say how many get their college degrees after their service is up. In FY 2005 the average amount being spent by military/former military using the Montgomery GI Bill is over $22 million PER STATE. So please tell me, who's getting an education?

JROTC is a great organization, it gives kids leadership skills and a sense of pride in themselves. Most kids who "don't make the grade" won't pass the ASVAB, so they can't join. We are like the colleges and trade schools, we provide another options for students.

So you can be closed minded, go right ahead, thats your freedom. Not everyone in the Army is a "killer", been in 14 years, haven't killed a single soul. I know how to defend myself in several different ways.

The fact you can ask that question is a tribute to those that chose to wear a uniform. If you were in Germany in the 1940's you would have been sent to a concentration camp for being an anti-war or pacifist. If we followed your philosphy we would be living under that system or worse.
We need an armed force for the same reason we need a Police Department becuase just as there are criminal individuals there are also criminal nations.
The Armed forces do not kill innocents. Killing someone who is "innocent" is a war crime. I was in the first Gulf War and at no time was I instructed, implied, or allowed to take the life or cause bodily harm to an individual or group who were not activley fighting US forces. When we captured an enemy we gave them food and water and if injured the best care we were capable of giving. It was no better or no worse than we would have provided our own wounded.
Civilians we provided the same care and more. We provided protection to the Shiite civilians from being rounded up and killed by Saddam's Republican guards. However, the UN had other plans and we abandoned them to Saddam's mercy. (You know what that meant!)
But that is neither here no there. If the majority of the people in this nation choose not to defend it then this nation and it's freedoms deserves not to live.

First, The recruiters have always been in schools since inception of schools. That is nothing new. You say you are in middle school. Those JROTC kids, are doing what they feel it right. Like you being a anti-war activist. Though I detest it. I respect it because that is your right as an American.

I believe your facts are a little wrong though. Yes, soldiers have been known to kill innocent civilians. Such is war. But, those same civilians are the ones tomorrow that are planting IDE's and shooting at soldiers.

Your concept of going to college in the Army is wrong too. The option is there yes but 90% of the soldiers chose not to use it. Not because they cant. it is because they are doing soldier things like protecting America...

Maybe instead of scoffing at the JROTC you should recognize those kids are molding themselves into leaders. Not necessarily soldiers. I was in the ROTC in High school. But elected to go into the Us Navy.

War is necessary it always will be. Would you have preferred we did nothing after 9/11..let the terrorists know we were weak. So, they do it again. Maybe this time they blow up themselves in your shopping mall. etc etc.

The recruiters are doing their job recruit. Ultimately it the the person they are talking to that makes the decision to fight for freedom.

You are misinformed. I was in JROTC for my final three years in high school. Not once was I encouraged to join any branch of the military. Not once was I subjected to brainwashing. Furthermore, the recruiters that visit the school are not affiliated with JROTC or the ROTC Cadet Command, except that they are military NCOs.

Killing innocent people isn't honorable and not one level-headed person in the military will agree that it is.

Allowing the recruiters to visit schools is no different than letting recruiters from any other profession visit. No one forces students to enlist.

Are you serious? You have no appreciation for this country. Those men and women who are in JROTC and may join the service later on and those serving now and did serve before protect your rights, your house, your money, your belongings, and most important your life. The military also offers those who aren't educated enough or just can't afford it with an ability to get a trade in any field they may please and they get paid for it. Engineers that come out of the military are highly sought after and get paid much more than those who go to college. They are risking their life to make a better life for themselves while serving their country. That deserves the utmost respect from every Citizen of the United States whether you believe in war or not. So they should show off their colors by wearing their uniform so people know what they do and remember how important they are to this country. You should thank everyone you see in uniform because they are the reason you have what you have today and are able to even type this message.

I dont think it matters, I joined cause i had nothing better to do. I knew this after two years into highschool. No recruiter came to me and harassed me. But if you not gonna allow them into schools, it only makes sense not to allow college recruiters and other type of recruiters into the school system. I also dont agree with some of the tactics that some recruiters use.

If it bothers you that much, present your case to some of the people they recruit and go after. If your aguement is strong enough and makes sense they will wake up.

I my self was in and totally disagreed with the current war. None the less the military did do me good. It wasnt for me thats why I am out, being a civilian is much better. I had alot of good times and just as many bad times. With any job you have to deal with that.

Another thing Freedom is not givin, Freedom is just that Free every human is by there right free. So stop playing that card people, cause I will say what I want and when I want regardless of the consiquences. The only reason I dont is my respect for my fellow human beings. But no one seems to beleive in respecting there fellow human beings anymore

They are informing the kids of an opportunity that they can choose, because people like YOU give them the wrong idea of the military! Not all jobs in the military contribute to killing. You can be a doctor (in a hospital, then when you get out they can actually be a civilian doctor and make a 6 figure income! do you make that much?) or a dentist (again, helping people) work in financing (they make sure we all get paid correctly and learn about banking and have a desk job) nurse/radiology tech/anything medical (refer to doctor), instructor (for anything from teaching classes at tech school to giving general briefings) and many many more.

It's not brainwashing. Being part of the military is not just about killing people. It's about keeping people like you and your family and your friends safe and letting you keep your freedom.

The college part, that is up to the individual. Yes, we get money for college, but the military is not just going to give everyone a diploma. You have to do the work. So what's your point there? A lot of people don't want to do school again after high school. In or out of the military.

Regardless of whether war is necessary or not, it's going to happen and there is nothing you or anyone else can do about that. Get over it and deal

true you need to be 21 to drink (in the US) and 17 to be in the military, but there is NO age limit on when you can be a parent and be responsible for another human life. (BTW- some people think abortion is killing and we get told about that and can do it as a pre-teen)
