Nothing stops speciation, in fact speciation has been observed in modern populations, not just in progress, but through to completion (eg. fruit flys, mosquitos, several plants).
The scientific method is based on observations. This does NOT mean direct observation of things happening in front of you. There is not logical basis for such a definition, it is creationist word games. Such an illogical definition, if applied, would exclude almost all science, other than a few basic things in physics, like 'most things seem to fall to the ground if you drop them'.
Macroevolution is based on an enormous pile of observations and is tested through examining the numerous branches of life.

I think they don't think it's evolution because we will always be humans. Silly. If we isolated a population we would see speciation. Is this possible? Yeah, but it's not likely. We'd see something more like the people that lived underground in the Time Machine. They would look similar to other humans but have behavioral differences and some physical differences. I doubt they'd have shaggy white fur though.

I am a Christian, and I am bright and I believe in Creation fully. If you start listening to scientists that are christian, you can receive much insight into what Chrstians believe.
God created it all. BUt, yes some things do change. But, we dont become new creatures. A monkey stays a monkey, tho in some countires may be furrier to protecct from cold, get it. we are what we are created to be.
Just how God designed it all.
We didnt just happen as in big bang. Nor did we evolve from another species. If so , how come they are still monkeys. no half monkeys still around. no half fish still around.
Its all lies of the devil, and tho I am very bright and a astrong Christian, I am no scientist, and you need to hear it from someone way brighter than me that can put it into scientific terms you can understand and not just form this laymens point of view. Go to Christian sites on the net, and to the library. Read up on the other views from those that are Christian, and boy does it all make sense.
SEek and ye shall find. all the fancy terms you use dont mean a thing. God says HE created it all, and we believe it, and yes science is showing much evidence for it, besides all the other Bible truths that have been proven to be so. Look at Bible prophecy. All that God predicted would come is coming and its coming fast. He tells us that fallse science ( that not of Him will come) and that we are to run from it.
You either hear God or you hear some secular scientist that only tells his own beliefs. Some things Faith is just required. But its all choice, as God gives us that.
Seek truth and you will find it.

They are simply being willfully obtuse. You'll find a lot of that in arguments backing any sort of conservative philosophy.
It reminds me a bit of those TV commercials for some new gadget where they show someone fumbling spasticly with the regular variety.

I'd be happier to hear someone to explain to me why they don't understand what an ecological niche is ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecological_niche ).
