I was always taught that a man should walk on the side closest to the traffic, to guard the woman, but now I see it more often that not that men aren't taught that little common courtesy. Am I right or wrong?

Yes A man should always walk on the street side to protect the woman from splashing. But these days boys are not taught to respect women. It is a shame there is very little common courtesy theses days.

Nearest to the traffic. I had never actually even thought of that until the guy I'm seeing did that. Come to think of it, that's more than common courtesy, it's actually "if something happens, I'll be hurt first and thus probably more". I can't get over how cute I think that is.

Courtesy is gone since women have demanded equal rights. If they want to walk shoulder to shoulder with men then why not to face the traffic as well. In my society women are still protected because they still respect the men and men respect women.

Your right. Men don't even hold the door open for women anymore. And it is more polite to walk on the side of traffic.

You know what> this is a good question. I look for profound good questions everyday on here and today it's yours. I must agree with this assumption on the "male look" with one of the lesbians. This always seems to be the way 2 lesbians appear. I never ever see two beautiful looking females who are lesbian no.....it's got one of the two looking like well.....Chasity Bono, with male truck driver looks...... for lack of examples. But for some reason THAT lesbian looks male but isn't attracted to men in anyway. I guess it's a Freudian thing with looking like a male (men don't have any attraction to other men) so she looks and acts like a man this mentally will separate her from being a woman (even though she is). Are you following me? I think it's a mental thing.

The custom comes from medievel times. People on upper floors would empty their chamber pots out of their windows. The stuff tended to hit on the outside, so gentlemen walked there to protect their lady.

Yeah. They should stand near traffic so when something like mud is splashed they could shove the woman to protect her.
