Over the last year I lost 20 lbs. I've been exercising and eating right. I have not totally deprived myself of snacks and sweets. Over the past two weeks though, my willpower has just fallen off! Things I've been able to pass up are suddenly SO difficult to not eat! Any ideas why?

Are you stressed or anxious about something? What I do -- I keep lots of small sweet fruit handy (dried raisins or other sweet fruit) so when the craving for sweet comes I grab a few and drink water. You don't want to blow the success you've achieved, because all it will take is about two weeks of this kind of behavior to start your bad eating habits up again and consequently, weight gain. PLAN WHAT YOU WILL SNACK ON BEFORE YOU FEEL THE NEED TO SNACK!!

Food cravings are a result of brain chemistry rather than appetite--and in the basic difference between genders.Past research has focused on the chemicals in chocolate, and whether they can make you feel like you're in love or as if you've just exercise. Both women tend to crave.Chocolate also is the perfect mix of sugar and fat to turn on almost every appetite-triggering nerve chemical in the brain. The sugar in chocolate sparks the release of a nerve chemical called serotonin and might lower another nerve chemical called NPY; the end result is a sense of well-being. The sweet taste also releases endorphins in the brain, giving us an immediate euphoric rush. The fat in chocolate enhances flavor and aroma and satisfies another nerve chemical called galanin, thus curbing our cravings for fat.

There are some days in the month that I need something sweet desperately. Start to marking in a calendar your menstrual cycles and see if is somehow related. Maybe that will help.

I believe it is our hormones working. You are not by yourself. sometimes we tell ourselves "we deserve it" (and we do) to justify overeating sweets. The only thing that works for me is to go ahead and give in to it and stuff yourself FOR ONE DAY ONLY and then go right back to eating right.
