SPF is the sun protection factor...its a rating of the product to protect your skin from the sun. The numbers compare the product to no protection at all..for example if a product has an spf of 4....it has 4 times the protection of bare skin...or lets say you can normally stay out in the sun for 15 minutes without being burned..with spf 4 you can stay out 4 times as long, or one hour..with out being burned.

SPF means sun protection factor. It is used in lotions etc to protect your skin from the effects of ultraviolet radiation ie- the sun's rays and the damage they can cause unprotected skin. An SPF of 15 means you can stay out in the sun 15 times longer than it would normally take for your skin to burn. An SPF of 30 - 30 times longer. I've seen SPF's as high as 50+. I think the recommendsation is anything >35 is a waste of your money.

It means that the skin lotion not only makes your skin softer and smell nicer, but it also protects you from the sun's IV rays.. IV rays are damaging to your skin.. sunscreen has an SPF.. and that's what makes it sunscreen.

It stands for Sun Percentage Filter. For example, SPF 15 means 15% of the sun's rays are blocked.
