what in your opinion makes the best wedding? Is it that your groom is having the best time, or your wishes are paramount or that the guests think that it was the best wedding in the world.
To be honest. I don't think you should plan your wedding to 'the best wedding in the world standards' because it is tradition that something on the day goes awfully wrong. If this happens to you you will remember it most probably as the worst day of your life. This will be because you have expected everything to be perfect.
Your best wedding in the world should include all the things you and your groom like - colours, fabrics, flowers and things which make your guests feel welcome and entertained - good dj,nice venue, good food and a token gift for guests to remember your special day.
The theme of the day should be 'celebration' - celebration of your marriage, it will probably be the best wedding in the world to you anyway. Have fun.

I do recommend you get a wedding planner because these things are so stressful (I just did a 15anera a few months ago for my sister, boy was that stressful). But the most important thing to concentrate on is the MARRIAGE and not the wedding. The wedding is one day and the marriage is for a lifetime. Tell the planner what you're looking for and let her take care of everything. As you go along you can make as many changes as you'd like.

I had the best wedding in the world. I was a grad student in Texas, my husband was working but paying off large student loans.
We got married by a justice of the peace in a Red Carpet real estate office (that was where the justice of the peace worked as his day job) with just the office receptionist and secretary as witnesses. Afterwards we went to a Sambo's coffee shop for lunch, and then we both went to work.
What made this the best wedding in the world was my husband, who is the sweetest, most loving and best man I've ever known. We've been married for 29 years and those have been fabulous years.
If you're marrying the person who is the love of your life, and that person loves you, it doesn't matter where you get married or how you get married or how much (or how little) you spend. Your wedding will be the best in the world.
If the person you're marrying isn't the love of your life and you aren't the love of that person's life, then it doesn't matter how much money you spend or how fabulous your wedding is, it's a train wreck and nothing will change that.

Plan everything detail to make YOU happy. It is, after all, YOUR day. If you're happy, then it will be the best wedding in the world. The "expense is not issue" thing, means you can plan lots of details.

Take an exotic vacation somewhere in the world and take along some friends and family to attend the simple wedding. It's not about the wedding, it's about your loved ones joining you two as one. It's a lot less stressful and more memorable.
