They certainly can be. Domestic violence occurs when one partner seeks to assert power and control over the other. Sometimes these events may occur patterns that include tension-building phase, followed by the actual abusive act, and then a calm. Domestic violence can be physical, emotional, or verbal abuse. You can safely and confidentially call the national domestic abuse hotline for further professional help and information at 1-800-799-7233 and/or contact a local YWCA.

It IS domestic violence if he threatens to hit you or yells at you in an intimidating manner. He sounds like a control freak. Better break it off before physical violence occurs.

That is domestic violence. What you are experiencing is verbal abuse, and it could really affect you. You should leave him now before he really does hit you. For the time being though, you are very unsafe.

Not necessarily but probably. You need to be very careful from now on and create a plan of what to do next time it happens. Either you need to leave him or you need to get counseling. Honestly, you dont have to nor deserve to put up with that.
