It does make one think. We are overdue are we not?

When people claim that sunrises and seasons and the birth of a baby are miracles, I just want to roll my eyes. Sorry, but those things were not "miracles" in the Bible! That is just a pat answer to a very valid question. Meanwhile we go on polluting the earth. And animals also give birth but we have no problems euthanizing unwanted pets or eating animal meat. Why are some people "miraculously" cured of disease while others die? God playing favorites? I do think there are still unexplained happenings in the world that remain undocumented or known only to the fringe but that doesn't mean they are all miracles either. Just unexplainable by what we know about science today.

Good Question!
I've pondered this many a times, I wish that a miracle would happen... so maybe the world can restore its faith.
I'm not a religios person, but a spiritual person, and had I been around in the "ancient times" to see any of these "miracles" then I'm sure I'd believe 100%

Being an atheist, I can tell you why. You know how Iraqies think they're dying for however many virgins in the afterlife? Yeah, same thing as those "ancient miracles" that "happened".
Dragons never existed.
Faeries never existed.
It's all fantasy.
If stuff from that video game the Legend of Zelda was real, then I'd believe everything from the bible and every other ancient miracle that supposedly happened.
That's my answer.

We no longer view miracles as miracles today. Science seems to have explained some miracles, but really all these things that we take for granted are not even explained by science. We understand that such a thing as energy exists, but we do not know its intrinsic nature. The nature of energy is still a miracle. We don't understand matter at the atomic level. We've found that matter and energy could be one and the same thing. Everything is energy in the end, and we have no idea how it works.
We only can see, feel, touch, taste, hear with our senses, beyond that, we're in the dark as to how anything works.

We're educated enough to know that there is scientific evidence supporting some of the occurrences as being an event such as earthquakes etc. There is also evidence of the stories were grossly exaggerated to supposedly teach object lessons. So the so called miracles can and are explained as nothing special...just nature, and men who told stories.

Well, take a good look around us. The things happen in the early years is true. The Bible told us all about the past. Also, the Bible tells about things in the present and future to. The Bible tells us that in the last days. It would be wars and rumors of wars. That happen right now. The Bible tells us that people would fall away from Godly ways. That is happen right now. The Bible tells us that our children would be rebellion against each other. That happen right now. Just look what is happen in the Middle East. The Bible said this would happen.
You see things is happen according to the Bible. Some things are already happen. But, we live in the Time for these things to happen. Another words, we are in the last days before Jesus returns. He said he would be back and look for these signs. To let us now its about time, keep looking for Jesus. It want be long now.
The Bible tells us nations against nations. That happen right now. The Bible tells us in the last days. It will be great hardship, earthquakes, sickness, total all out troubles all over the world..That happen right now. What happen to our Schools. They thrown out the prayer, Bible reading time. Look what kind of shape were in over that.
No Godly principals.
The Bible tell us that all nations will go against "Israel." That in process right now. The Bible tells us most people will not believe in the Holy Bible. Thats happen right now.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Can't you see miracle right now? The sun is so far from us but giving us life. The cow eats grass and give us white milk. The combination of one ova and sperm could become a live creature. Listen, there are some stories to make the things interesting. Sometimes few examples are given to make people understood the story. Like you used word ridiculous for miracles. The miracles are happening all of the time. You need to love God and pray him/her to give you light to understand things rather then getting angry. God bless you.
Thanks

Ridiculous miracles still happen today (I've seen them from time to time) It's just they are not documented in a collective book (like the Bible) so we can't learn about them...
And the pillar of salt was not a miracle: God said dont stop and look back, because it was raining sulpher, so because the wife stopped running, she got caught by the sulpher and became salt, the others who didnt waste their time lookin back Got away safely...

It could be two reasons.
The first one could be that in those times, people were more religious and more fearful of straying from the word. In those times, time wasn't a factor as we today, when we live our lives in an accelerated speed.
or
In those days what they saw was exagerated and written as the person who heard of such things or saw such things described. Through out time their interpretations have been rewritten and reinterpreted to what we have now, a world of myth and legend, surreal and not logical.
I think.

God also gave us HIs promise that he woudl not destory the world again. I agree that many miracles once described and attested to are not so plainly seen in the world of today. But there are so may more miracles that we have right in front of us that we over look. The birth of a baby, the life and death cycle of the four seasons, our own medical miracles. God hasn't abandonned us, as we have become more complex, His miracles have remained the same, simple. We just tend to miss them.
