Most schools and libraries use Internet Explorer. However, Firefox has been rated safer on the security front. I would recommend Firefox AND constant parental supervision for kids under ~12 (depending on maturity).

**All children should be educated about the dangers of posting personal information and trusting strangers online also.**

DITTO what poster 2 and 3 said. Firefox is great...and not just for kids. I use it ALL the time unless there are things I need to do that Firefox doesn't support.

Firefox is MUCH less vulnerable for nasty things than IE!!

If you look around, I believe there are special browsers available just for kids. In any case, Firefox is always a better choice over Internet Explorere, just for security reasons.
