There must be an echo in here. I just heard this question an hour ago.

To accept that god works through people, you have to accept a notion of 'agents of karma' - that god deals his good through people who have done good and that satan deals hell through people who are bad. However that's a bit contradictory, all the people needing some balance , there isn't likely to be the right amount and so this is unpalatable.

However, what if some humans put on this earth aren't free willed humans like us, they're just connected and controlled by god himself? Perhaps these can be operated upon to act as agents?

Regardless, the whole notion is unpalatable, it's much easier to believe in a single god who predetermined an environment that would allow us to lead lives as we do.

God does whatever HE wills and He can use others to speak through- and as servants unto Him, for we who are saved in Him are His servants- His children...He has many ways to show Himself to others and the first being creation and the second being His word- the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But God has used many to speak through and give instruction- but the best way we can hear God is by reading the Holy Bible- it is our instructions and our communication with Him- it keeps us rooted in Him and walking on that narrow path- as is described in Matthew 7:13-14.
Here is a good verse:
James 4:15
Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that."

I think some would say that much of what God does depends on individual free will. If you agree with that, you could say that God works through all of us.

God is the group, the individual and he was both Jesus and Moses. God is also you and me and everyone else.

God works through everyone all the time.

And, the answer is: .... All of the above. Does a good parent do everything by himself/herself? Of course not.

God is our father in Heaven. He is a good parent. Although God is very powerful, he is not egocentric, he does not limit his care for us to his, his, his actions.

Jesus would say it, or did say it best when he was talking about the vine and the fruit. Jesus was talking about a lot of things when he referred to the fruit being fed through the vine (Grapevines, I suppose).

Back to being a good parent: If you send a child to teach another child, they both are useful, and they both learn or re-learn the information.

Like God, this parable is unlimited in the ways it can be applied to our lives.

But, let's not limit God to ancient writings*. He, through Jesus' message writes new scriptures (new information) in our hearts on a daily basis. We worship (Jesus said "Love God") a living God. Like the song says, "He lives, He lives, How do we know he lives? He lives in our hearts, today"

Warning: Galatians 10:18 et al, tell us how to know, understand God's messages. Basically, we can understand God better if we keep in mind his overall message; Harmony is its own reward. And, that disharmony is the most common sin against God.

Now, for technology. Do not deny
(in your heart) God's ability to also use technology. Like a good parent he will use all available resources to guide and help his children.

*Please do not misunderstand me. The Bible is a miracle, especially the original texts.

God does not need us. I am amazed at this but He wants us.

He will still be God without us. He will still be worshiped and praised, too.

He works through the body of Christ (followers of Jesus Christ).

He does not work through religion, for religion is man's way to trying to reach God.

God's way of reaching us is through relationship with Jesus Christ.
