Acts 2:44 and Acts 4:32 both say they held all things in common.... as in they shared EVERYTHING!! So if it makers you feel better you are right--there is no 10% in the NT. There is no 'forget the tithe' either. It all belongs to God and you are simply a steward of HIS stuff. So give it ALL brother!!
Technically the 10% was a MINUIMUM and there were OTHER offerings above and beyond that.... and then there were the repentant offerings for sin....
God loves a CHEERFUL giver. So give. But be aware where the money goes. DL Moody had it right--he wore the same old dull suit..... the money that came in went to NEEDS and not to the WANTS!

We are still expected to tithe, however in the new testiment, it is trying to say that don't just tithe to 'buy' your way into heaven. You could tithe all you want but it doesnt mean that you will have your reward in heaven. There is more to what god wants from us. He wants us to give back what's his, all of ourselves.
Jesus didn't bring an end to the old testiment's account of God's commands, he came to enforce them. Man had just so far misplaced their meaning, and started making their own rules, that jesus had to come and show them how to live.

I do not agree. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." Therefore, I believe that if tithing is admonished in the Old Testament, then Christ and Paul would admonish the New Covenant Church to tithe. (All Scripture quoted here is from the New International Version)
The OT book of Gensis 14:18-20 gives the account of Abram (later Abraham) after the defeat of Kedolaomer where Abram gave a tenth (or tithe) to Melchizedek, priest of God Most High, as God had blessed him by delivering his enemies into his hands.
Note that this occurs before the giving of the Law by Moses.
Then Melchizedek king of Salem [d] brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, 19 and he blessed Abram, saying,
"Blessed be Abram by God Most High,
Creator [e] of heaven and earth.
20 And blessed be [f] God Most High,
who delivered your enemies into your hand."
Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
Then, the Law concerning tithes is foung in Leviticus 27:30
30 " 'A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.
And Malachi warns in his chapter 3 verses 8-12 not to rob God of the tithe, which belongs to him and urges us to "test" God for the blessings He will bestow upon us if we give the tithe.
"Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me.
"But you ask, 'How do we rob you?'
"In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says the LORD Almighty. 12 "Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land," says the LORD Almighty.
I believe the correct interpretation of Paul's "Give as God has prospered you " (what is the book, chapter, verse of this?) it that as you prosper then your tithe or tenth will be more. I believe the tithe is commanded and then offerings are given above the tithe and that our goal as Christians should be to give the tithe and then handle our finances in such a way as to be able to give more offerings.
I hope this helps.
A very important p.s. Let me say, most importantly, that by keeping the Law, we cannot earn our way to Heaven and eternal life with God. Instead, Eternal LIfe is a free gift from God through Jesus Christ that we must receive by confessing that we are a sinner and asking Jesus to be our Savior. If this has happened, then giving the tithe is something we do to honor God and show our gratitude for His Salvation.

nicely i imagine that each and each and every church has a level of truth, in case you look at Jesus ministry he had 5 arenas of concentration as i visit work out, between them being training, miracles, serving the negative... in truth there are probable more beneficial than 5. you'll discover that each and each and every church will lean in the route of one in each and every of those disciplines, and each and each and every time someone feels compelled to maintain on with a special area, they'll leave and commence their own church, it really is so extraordinary in case you imagine about it, because how can a church symbolize the body of Christ at the same time as each and every thing of it has an identical function. yet convinced I do believe you- at the same time as one in each and every of my mentors became in college, he spoke about a question he positioned out to the different scholars- which became why are you interpreting theology- and a astounding type of them reported that its a good life, you may make respectable funds, and also you've were given the appreciate of the community. Now if it extremely is your starting up position to ministry is it any ask your self that such quite a number of the truths that you tutor were lost

I agree that tithing is not found in the new testament. People do not understand that tithing, in the old testament, was for the "goverment", to teach the Law. (The law, and prophets were taught until John/The Baptist, afterwards, the kingdom of God is being preached). Jesus advised, You recieved free, give for free.

Matthew 23:23 ". . .you should tithe yes, but do not neglect the more important things". It is good to tithe, but it is NOT required for salvation.
Yes, actually it was. You need read the whole thing. He says that you should tithe, just don't forget the more important aspects of the law!! As I said before, it is not required for salvation. Its just that you should give back some of the blessings God gave to you.

In the Old Testament, men were required to give at least 10%.
In the New Testament, we are to give as we purpose in our heart.
"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." (2 Corinthians 9:7)

Only a few things changed at the cross. God did not come to abolish the law and said so. exact words were GOD FORBID. He came to fullfill the law so that animal sacrificres were no longer necessary. and the new covenenat says we are to have the law in our hearts and to love others as we love God.... This means we will still obey the law. If we lie and cheat ppl, we dont love them. law is still in affect, but we dont have to sacrifice an animal for forgivness. The blood of Jesus took care of all of that.
WE are still to tithe, and God says the firstfruits ot the tithe are necesary, meaning we pay God first, His tenth. This is still Biblical and always will be. SHOW me a scripture that says we dont.
Much by Christian churches is true and much false, including on tv. Yes, we are to tithe our money to God, thru our local church or whatever ministry we support. The preachers that preach this are accurate. BUt, many take it too far, and are demanding you give to THEM or you are cursed. No, we give to who God says to give our tithe too, and its not every preacher on tv. Nor do we have to buy all they say to be saved. NO. We give to God our tenth, because He says to and we want to and we deceive who we give that to, to support the ministry tht will preach truth. Many on tv are great preachers, and many are false. I listen to them all that I get, and I hear great preaching. But, I hear many lies too, and the only way to know that is to know ALL of Gods word, to study , pray, and live it. You are correct, many dont care about the ppl, only want your money. But, many do care. Listen and check them against the Bible. By their fruits you shall know them. ACTIONS. thats how we know it.
Ever hear of Perry Stone on TBN. that man is full of Bible truths, and is truly a last day preacher. Not all on tv are false, so dont lablel them as such. labeling usually is wrong, and false. in anything. I agree that the body of Christ better stand up about lies and error, and they also need to stand up about the ones that are preaching only Gods truth.
Jesus did warn us about the apostasy coming into the world and into the churches, and its here. We arent to go where error is preached. When you spot error, flee, but dont thru the baby out with the babywater here, cuz there are still some on Christian TV that only speak truth and those we do need to hear. We are to look for a church that preaches truth, and if there is none in our area, then we start one with a group of fellow believers and seek only Gods truth. Church can be awesome if its great, but if its not of God, we are called to flee, run to the nearest exit as John Hagee says. But, we need to seek only GOds truth, not what flase ppl in false churches teach us. we are warned about it all. Stand up body of Christ and only be in churches where there is unity of the faith and in the truth being taught. It truly is time to stand, as Jesus is coming soon. we must ask what page we are on, are we ready when Jesus comes? Its not enough to just believe God. devil does that. We must be following God thru obedience. This last day God says He will give more revelation as so much more evil is coming in. Obedience brings blessing and disobedience brings curse.
Time to take a stand as Jesus is calling us to a life of purity and holiness. Are we truly Gods or truly not? This is a question we need to ask today.
Your question is great, and the answer is yes we are still to tithe, as ministries need funds to operate.....
That didnt change. and I love your other comments about false preachers in the church and on tv. We better wake up and do it soon, as Jesus is coming. Yes, I agree with that..
