Dubai airport isn't "the pits" , it's the cheapest duty free in the world, has loads of decent shops and is a great place to get cheap booze and fags.
In fact, it's one of the top 10 Airports in the world.

The flight from East Midlands to London will prob be about an hour. The connecting flight from london to Dubai will be about 5/6 hours. yet you'll opt to attend at the same time as in London on your flight to Dubai even with the truth that.

I flew from Paris to Dubai and it took almost 7 hours so from England I guess it might take 8 hours more or less.
