When you understand (or think you do) something in a new way, "light" has been shed on it. It's a figure of speech. So to be "enlightened" is to have the light "dawn" on you--to gain understanding.

Some refer to the process of enlightenment as "seeing the light," so the link seems to be largely figurative rather than literal.

Enlightened...(in terms of religion) when the Holy Spirit had a successful works on a person, i.e., when a person knows, understand and sees the truth (of God`s redemption plans) as revealed by God and the Holy Spirit...then he is enlightened.

A person been enlightened will be living in the... LIGHT of God`s majestics presence, graces, mercy, blessings, love, peace, joy, happiness in this world or in eternal paradise.

A person enlightened knows something of the material world. In this context, light is energy.

A light is what you turn on to see in a room.

recent research has shown that exposure to natural light can enhance or even kickstart creativity. so maybe getting a decent amount of light can help the thinking/meditating process that can lead to enlightenment

Light illuminates everything. Nothing is hidden. So it is when a person becomes enlightened. Nothing is hidden from them anymore. They see clearly.

They are two completely different things. Light is the absence of dark, whilst being enlightended is a mental state of realisation about something
