I was listening to a phone-in this morning, and many christians were calling in to say that the tornado was a message from god. It was "punishment", "a test of faith", a "show of strength", a "wake-up call", and various other interpretations.
Was this just another example of the nutter christians finding 'meaning' from a completely random and explainable event, or do the moderate christians cringe when they hear the nutters give credit to god for his destructive act?
And are my atheist friends going to repent having seen god's anger and wrath!?

Darkest Depths Of Mordor - Thanks for the Latin lesson! There's another one directed at the christians - "illegitimus non carborundum" (?) which translates as 'don't let the b*stards grind you down'

Musicol.... as the tornado didn't get you or I... it must have been sent to get the god botherers because they obviously have doubts concerning their faith... whereas you and I have no doubts.

actual Christians can not have it the two procedures, yet once you opt for a Christians rationalization of the twister right that's.. God created a suited international. with out hail, predators, thistles and all the undesirable issues that happen on the instant. It became into an Earth in team spirit a suited God's test. while guy fell, each thing went incorrect. It grew to grow to be like a bad test or a bugged working equipment, in got here the Virus. Now some issues artwork super yet some do not, there is yet another rigidity that perverts the best and makes it undesirable. Like a maximum cancers does. or a Lie is a perversion of the reality. So sure God created the wind however the wind does not consistently artwork dazzling, some thing often times is going incorrect :/

So why was God punishing the little baby whose house was blown in? What ever wrong doings could a baby have done to deserve the wrath of god. Personally I think the effects of global warming caused the tornado and unfortunately it hit a residential area. The uk has more tornados per mile of land than any other country.

No.
The buildings were in a poor state.
These are some of the oldest in London.
Things like this happen everyday all over the world.
Presently there are floods, tornados, fires storm damage somewhere on Earth.
To lose faith in God is just an emotional reaction.

While a tornado is an act of GOD. To even speculate on it's purpose is pure conjecture. For one thing our simple minds are much too limited to even begin to contemplate what an intelligent as vast as GOD is doing at any one moment in time.
And I pity your atheist friends. They have no one to call on when they have an orgasm.

I have no clue why He sent a tornado. His ways are not mine and His thoughts are not mine. Who knows maybe the call in people are right. As a Christian we believe there are no random acts. No coincidence. We believe that it is all God's plan. We find peace in His being in control. In other words it doesn't really matter why to us as we know him to be infallible and in charge and have faith that it will work out to His benefit.

People said the same thing about the hurricanes that hit America. It saddens me and I am a Christian.

Nothing to do with God, if anyone is to blame it's man kind and what we are doing to the planet, I believe before we look to blame God we need to look at ourselves
