Me and my boyfriend have known eachother for about 4 years. We started dating 2 years ago. The first 2 years were great and 6 months into the relationship was great. Then he attempted suicide 3 times in one month was diagnosed as bipolar.

My question is that I have caught him in so many lies, even as little as have you taken the trash out yet? He tells different people different lies and we find out when we all get together and talk and found out he has told everyone different things. I was wondering if it is something related to the disorder or if he has another problem that needs to be checked out. Thanks

Sorry, but I have bipolar, and I'm certainly NOT a liar. My honesty was a problem when I was working, though. Your boyfriend has major psychological problems in addition to his psychiatric one. He needs to see a clinical psychologist for therapy, as well as a good bipolar disorder support group.
You need therapy to discover what it is about yourself that allows you to put up with his lies.

Sorry, no. diverse character affliction (on the severe end of the Dissociative affliction record), varieties whilst the guy is a youthful baby, having been traumatized in a dramatic way that the baby did no longer believe they might stay to tell the story. as quickly as the baby has formed the personalities, they oftentimes stay with that individual for his or her lifetime (, except an aggressive medical care happens - wherein case the form of personalities could be decreased). melancholy of one form or yet another can many times be seen in a individual with diverse Personalities, extremely given the character of or the guy's point of information of the unique trauma skilled. Bipolar, or Manic-melancholy is a style of melancholy that swings between being incredibly excited and extraordinarily unhappy and having concern functioning. this might impact a individual at any point of their life. If something, it must be stated that it relatively is achievable for the guy with diverse character affliction that would have it carry approximately starting to be depressed with BiPolar affliction.

If he is on medication then his dose may have "peaked" out and maybe he needs a higher dose. Or he is not on the right dose but I have found that most people with bi-polar disease have other underlying issues to. Maybe he is misdiagnosed and or it's mixed with schizophrenia? A mild case to. Or a personality disorder. Try seeing if you can go to therapy with him and having a moment with his therapist to share this is the best you can do.This is gonna be a while to get better as it is hard to find the overnight miracle or even the right diagnoses overnight. He needs to have regular therapy as well. It's a slow process. But check into those and be helpful as you can and thanks for caring about him, he needs you most now. Best wishes to you and him.

That is a good question.I know several people with bipolar and they are compulsive liars.I also know plenty more without bipolar and alot of them is compulsive liars.A person who lies is a person who tells lies because the thruth dont make them look good enough. This little boy I know that is bipolar is 9 years old.He has a very small hard to see scar on his hand.He tells different stories daily on how he got that scar.I think that a bipolar person has a better chance of lieing and they make up the strangest lies.Just continue to love your boyfriend and over look the lies.

First I want to let you know that I understand that it is hard to live with someone who is bi-polar. If your boyfriend isn't taking the correct medicine it can be even worse. Just dealing with rapid cycling and manic episodes alone are hard.

Have you ever checked out the NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill ) website. NAMI has support groups for people who are living with people with mental illness. You can check to see what groups they offer in your area. You can join a support group and talk with people who are going through the same things you are.

You can also read up on the symptoms of bi-polar. I have been living with someone for the past 2 years who is bi-polar. He just recently started taking his lithium. I will tell you that before he started taking medicine he was so manic it was hard to deal with. Your best bet is to read up on bi-polar. The better you educate yourself the better off you will be in understanding him. Also try talking to his mom or any other of his family members. You can come up with a "game" plan on how to handle him if and when he gets manic.

Good luck to you. My heart goes out to you.

Compulsive lying is very common. He is not aware that he is doing it, so be gentle when approaching the subject.
There are support groups for bipolar people as well as family and friends. This is something you may want to do together to show your support for him. Good luck.

When people lie like this, they are not happy w/ themselves or their accomplishments. He needs to find self love. The reason he is lying, is because he is telling everyone what THEY want to hear. He feels if he tells the truth he will let down friends or family.
